I received a photo from a woman who found my website after getting her Vertical Clitoral Hood (VCH) piercing done. She thought something didn't seem right with it. This is my response:
It might be in the right spot. I'd need to see it from underneath to be sure. See attachment that shows a shallow VCH piercing with the optimal placement marked.
Also, your bar is far longer than it needs to be. This can cause discomfort and also excess trauma, which can delay healing and cause complications such as scarring.
Further, the bar looks like it may be thiner than the safe minimum size (14 gauge), and the balls are very small, which could result in embedding. I would suggest you get a shorter bar in, and one that has larger balls than what you're wearing now.
Even if the jewelry is thinner than it should be, I would advise you to wait until the piercing has fully healed and settled (at least 3 months) before getting a thicker piece of jewelry put in. It would not need to be repierced to do that. This tissue is quite malleable and stretchy and can go up in size quite easily. A piercer can do it with a device called an insertion taper. It might feel somewhat tight or pinchy, but if you stretch it slowly enough, it will not cause damage or need to reheal.
Are you following the aftercare as suggested here?

I reveived a message recently:
I got my VCH done last June by Kellan at infinite in Philly and I've been very pleased with it. He was a great and professional piercer, he calmed me down and talked me through it. I got a curved barbell but I've decided I want try out some different jewelry. Do you have any ideas for styles to increase stimulation?
Also, next month I have to have a test and my doctor said I have to take the jewelry out. How long can I leave it out for? I can't get back to Infinite any time soon. Thank you so much! A.

I recently got a very interesting question I hadn't been asked before:
Though you may not be able to answer this I'd like to ask if you know an estimated percentage of women who sexually benefit from VCH and HCH piercings. My main reason for doing it is enhancing orgasms, not anatomical "beauty". I've read that few women truly get more or easier orgasms through piercings. If its less likely I'd have some improvement its probably not worth it for me.
Would you have any idea?
Did you read this page of my site: http://piercingbible.com/female-genital-piercings ?
It explains that VCH and triangle piercings (both shown in image, right) are the two that are most commonly "functional" for women and those are the placements that are more likely to increase stimulation and sexual enjoyment. And that the HCH is primarily ornamental for most women.
I can also say that I do get a great deal of positive feedback from women who describe the genital piercings I do for them as "great" or "wonderful" and report, "I love it!" but they don't necessarily provide me with particulars in every case. From the feedback I receive, I'd have to say it seems "worth it"--as that is the overall sense I get from my clients. Here's a comment from a recent posting on my guestbook:

For those who don't know, I live (very happily!) in the Yucatan of Mexico, and I periodically travel around the US to do piercings in the fine studios of my colleagues.*
Last year I took nine different piercing trips spanning from Los Angeles to Atlanta, Seattle to Philadelphia, and some places in between, like Detroit and Oklahoma City.
I pierced a total of 32 days last year. I performed 549 piercings on 383 clients, including 246 Vertical Clitoral Hood (VCH) piercings, and 100 triangle piercings, among others.
And it was A BLAST! Thanks so much to each of my clients who went through the process and put forth the effort to make an appointment with me to get pierced. In many cases you've traveled to see me--sometimes great distances. I'm honored, and I take seriously the trust you place in me to do my job.
Last year's record distance was a woman who traveled from Dubai to West Hollywood to be pierced by me! This year's contender appears to be a woman who has booked an appointmet to get pierced by me in Philadelphia, and she is coming from Japan.
I am incredibly fortunate and my life is truly amazing! In many ways I feel like the luckiest person I know. As long as I'm sharing, here's a few photos that show highlights of 2011:

I received a message from a woman inquiring about hood splitting:
I'm writing to get your opinion (and maybe some information) on clitoral hood splitting. I currently have a vch and triangle, which I believe are both placed perfectly. But, I'm still having problems achieving orgasm (I was hoping those would help). I think it's because my hood is rather thick and even when I'm "hard" my clitoris isn't exposed at all so it makes it difficult to actually stimulate it. I've been trying to do some research and maybe find information about hood splitting and where to get it done (I'm located in the midwest) but I can't seem to find much of anything. I was hoping that maybe you could give me some information on it.

I had a piercee (not someone I pierced personally) contact me to say she was concerned about her genital piercings due to localized swelling following sexual activities:
I know you are super busy, and I totally appreciate you taking some of your time out to read and reply to my issue. I got a VCH on July 2nd and then I got a Triangle done on Sept 10th of this year. I haven't had any problems with the healing process but I have noticed lately when I have somewhat rough sex my hood gets quite swollen (like it kind of balloons up to maybe 2x its size). It gets really sensitive and discomforting and I don't know if its because the Triangle is still healing or is this a side effect of having both piercings? Or a combo of both?
Thank you for everything! You are an awesome woman and I love your book! You rock!
