After 10 years of thinking about getting a VCH piercing I finally made the decision to get it done. I started doing research on it and found Elayne Angels website an found it to be incredibly helpful! I have always been quite shy when it comes to my vagina and how it looks. My sisters had always made me feel like I was not normal because my anatomy was not the same as theirs. I know this info may seem to have nothing to do with this website or Elayne Angel but it does deep down. After looking over the website for hours over a the course of a week I got the "balls" to get it done. I found a great piercer near me, armed with all the info I got from this website and I did it! With my shyness somewhat under control and my new piercing making me feel more beautiful and sexy I felt amazing. Only one problem, I felt my barbell was a little short. The bottom ball would hide under my hood and I wasn't sure if that would be harmful to the healing process. So again I got the "balls" to email Elayne a picture and ask her advice. She suggested a J Curve barbell. I took her advic and ordered it right away so by the time I was healed I could change it. All I can say is WOW! It was not uncomfortable before but when I swapped the barbells it felt as if I had no piercing at all unless I wanted to feel it : ) I am very sensitive and the J Cruve makes me even more so. It moves easy and I can always see both ends of the jewlery. My husband was worried that the piercing would get in the way of oral sex but with the J Curve he has not complained and neither have I! The link to the store that I purchased my J Curve fr is the one on this website. They shipped it fast and had very reasonable prices. Like I mentioned before I have been shy and teased about the looks of my vagina and what my piercing and Elayne have helped me realize is that it is BEAUTIFUL! Yes this may sound lame or over the top, because it's "just" a piercing. But to me the whole process has really changed my mind frame. I was not shy to get it pierced and was not shy to send Elayne my picture to get her advice. So I would like to thank Elayne and everyone who has submitted questions to this website, & making it not be such a taboo subject!

In Sept Elayne did a VCH for me in Oklahoma City. When it came to picking jewelry, since I don't have a fav color we went with her fav which is purple *since then I've changed to a pearl*. Most of the reviews that I saw prior to having mine done weren't very informative so rather than give a review on day one, I waited to fully heal. The whole process was quick and painless; seriously it was over before I even knew she had started. A quick pinch and a pass of the mirror and I was done! The outside healing process was quick, the interior healing took a bit longer possibly because I didn't wait the proper healing time before having sex again *shame on me* but I did soak afterwards and all ended up well. I did/do have the occasional issue with some irritation where the top ball hits the skin, I think It’s from running and sweating. If you buy Elayne’s book *you REALLY should* you'll be able to identify and understand what I'm talking about. Since I’ve changed to dry fit exercise panties and leggings it doesn’t happen very often. It's nothing serious and a quick soak seems to clear it up. I do have days where the piercing irritates me other days I can’t feel it all. For me it doesn’t enhance sex any, at times I find it a bit bothersome especially if you’re using toys.
Thanks again Elayne for beautifully decorating my cupcake <3
Thanking Elayne Angel!!!

Because of all the information given on this site, in the piercing bible, and the procedure videos I've watched by Elayne Angel I have definitely been educated in piercings. Well at least to feel comfortable enough to get my first piercing a few days ago! Which was a VCH piercing and I Love it! Its absolutely perfect! I knew exactly what to expect and to look out for before, during, and after my piercing experience. Anyone considering a piercing should research using all these things as well and definitely make use of Elayne Angel's "Piercer Referrals." I did and was pierced by Tiffany Diamond @ Lady Luck Tattoo in Waterford,MI. Definitely worth the research!!! Happy Piercing!

Your knowledge about piercings has educated me so much, and I appreciate all the medical terminology words you use. Initially, I used to be a general piercer back in my youth, since people would easily want holes into their flesh. Some common piercings I did involved: belly, hands, nose, eyebrow, ears, and so-on. Then the more difficult piercing's I felt were: tongue, penis, and vagina. Secondly, still I know there are other new piercings like: embedded jewelery. Embedded jewelery can be pierced just about anywhere like the eyebrow, belly, cheeks, hands, chest, and further-on. My question to you is: can you do an embedded jewelery piercing underneath the skin of the vagina or penis? Obviously I think a true professional piercer can embed jewelery under the skin of the penis or vagina if done correctly. The main point is that your topic on piercing the hardest areas of a humans body are: the penis and the vagina. Third and last, you typed a lot of great safe details as: "taking vitamin K prior to piercing, no aspirin, no caffeine, and the length of time like 4-8 weeks of healing time." Even about the sensual arousing side of the way a piercing should be placed into skin, for couples. Your website proves its professionalism through detailed links of: female genitals, male genitals, and ftm's genital piercing's. The piercing pricing seems of reasonable value $100-$50 because it is done right. Your book also played an the ultimate guide to more information concerning the correct ways to pierce. Thank you, for advising the laws of piercing!!!!-)

Thanks for your comments. I believe you're talking about surface anchors (the preferred terminology of the Association of Professional Piercers). They are sometimes called "microdermals" or "microdermal implants," but those terms have caused problems due to confusion about these being a more serious form of body modification. They have been outlawed in some areas as a result. But basically they are quite similar to a piercing.
Unfortunately, however, even when everything is done right, surface anchors simply appear to be less of a permanent body modification than traditional body piercings.
Regardless of placement on the body, they require ongoing care throughout their life span, including regular irrigation to make sure no matter builds up in the channel or under the ornament. And even with this care, sometimes they will tilt and/or surface and reject.
I think the most important thing you can do is be aware of this and not to consider them as permanent an adornment as a traditional body piercing.

Hello Elayne! I need to say thank you firstly for taking the time to help me in my decision making process. I am so happy that my search for information led me to your website and then to your book! you have been so helpful and willing to share your time and knowledge with me. it is very important to me to be well informed and confident in my choice of what type of gential piercing I am best suited for but also, to be confident in the person who will be doing that piercing. Now armed with the information in The Piercing Bible and knowing that you have a referral ( post-dyslexia ;) ) to Derek at Saint Sabrina's, I am excited to get this done. I hope to schedule an appointment with him in the near future... that is unless you would by chance be making travel plans to visit the Upper Midwest some time this year?!! Regardless... I hope that some day I am able to meet you, thank you in person and maybe get yet another piercing! You are an inspiration!!! ps. I'll be back with an update after I have it done... :)

I had decided to get a vch piercing and went to a local place who declined to do it as my anatomy wasn't suited. I contacted Elayne Angel who informed me that actually it is and recommended Julie at Cold Steel. I arrived at the studio which is very pleasant and professional in appearance, Julie was at the desk she was welcoming and approachable. I completed the required paper work and paid my money, I had decided to get my nipples repierced too whilst I was there and Julie advised me just to do one as getting both at the same time can cause healing problems as you don't have a side to lay on. We went upstairs to the room, it was clean, tidy and professional. Julie made me feel at ease, she marked the position for the vch and showed me in a mirror, Julie said that they do rings or bars I said I would prefer a bar, when she had checked me she determined that this was possible. Julie also explained why she had chosen to off set the piercing, this was because of my design and it would look correct when positioned, she was right it looks great. I found it quite painful but that may just be me. Julie talked me through the whole process. We then proceed to pierce my right nipple. Julie marked it first and talked me through this process it was not as painful as the vch and I have a bar which looks good. The after care advice was verbal as well as written, Julie stated that I could ring any time if I had any concerns and requested that I come back when I feel healed enough on my right side to have piercing check and get my left nipple done. In conclusion a very professional and knowledgable establishment, I can't recommend them enough. Just want to say thank you Elayne for your advice, support, referral and website as without all of this I would not have even considered a vch at 48.

Dear Elayne, I wanted to "Thank you" for a job well done. I was on the fence about getting a genital piercing, hearing horror stories of other peoples' experiences. But after doing some research, I stumbled upon your website. I liked what I saw, and thought you were the right person for my 1st piercing. I opted for the Triangle piercing. Although, my appointment was scheduled in advanced for Friday, April 13th, I really wasn't going to allow the friggatriskaidekaphobia, to deter me in any way and I am very happy that it didn't. It's been almost a month now, and I must say I am happy with the healing process. It wasn't as bad as I anticipated. I am loving my new look! You carry yourself in such a professional manner, that made my experience worth while. I will be contacting you for the next piercing, a VCH, very soon!!! Thanks again, and keep doing a great job!!

I can not express how wonderful my piercing experience with Elayne was! She is teh piercing angel :) After being in a funk for a while feeling old and not very attractive or sexy- I stumbled upon Elayne's page and read how a grandmother got pierced- and how wonderful she felt about her self. Well I realized Elayne was coming to Phylie and contacted her immediately- unfortunately she was booked- but somehow it was meant to be as she had a cancellation! I booked my flight from Portland Maine and drove myself crazy waiting thinking if I should really go through with this- will it make me feel as good as I think? No doubt! Elayne was so personable- professional and the best piercer and artist I have ever met! I got two piercings a new type of triangle Elayne invented and a VHC- all in gold and beautiful! The healing has been great- easy and I am out of my funk! Thanks Elayne for making me feel HOT again :) I highly recommend everyone gets pierced by you!

Somehow – can you explain these things, anybody? – I’d gotten interested in the idea of a second piercing, having gotten a PA from Elayne a year and a half ago, and been very happy with it. Of all the other genital piercings, only the ampallang really appealed to me, but 1. not many people seemed to get them, and why was that? And 2. it’s obviously a somewhat daunting procedure. And then again 3. it takes a while to heal and you’re not supposed to go in swimming pools! Or have sex! I convinced myself I could deal with these things, one way or another. I got on Elayne Angel’s email list and discovered she was coming back to Philadelphia in April – but I dithered about actually making an appointment. By the time I did email her, she was all booked up, every half-hour every day, with a waiting list; so I figured, ok, never mind, I guess that was not a good idea and I’m fine with that, whew! But – a few weeks later – Elayne told me she had a spot after all – “I guess it was meant to be,” she said. I kind of thought, uh-oh, maybe it really is, so I booked the spot on April 16 and paid Elayne and started taking vitamin K. This gave me quite a few weeks to ponder whether or not this really was a good idea. I think what kept me committed is that my life has been very unhappy for the last year and more and I liked the idea of having a sort of extreme experience -- to give me less time and energy to contemplate being miserable. And I knew it would not be a huge deal to cancel, if I really really didn’t want to go through with it.
But, reader, I did. I showed up and contemplated all the jewelry at Infinite Piercing for 15 minutes and then Elayne came bouncing (she does not literally bounce, but gives that impression) out, put my jewelry (12g) in the sterilizer, and off we went. It is really worth getting pierced just to meet this woman – she radiates positive vibes in all directions and after a few minutes with her your heartbeat slows down to normal and you really think this may not be such a crazy thing to do after all. Even though she’s so scheduled, she seems to have all the time in the world to figure out the correct placement of your jewelry; it’s an absolutely unique experience to sit there with this nice lady seriously considering the configuration of your penis, and pointing out where the natural folds etc. are – things that, however much time you have spent with your penis, you have probably never thought about. Finally –- the little Sharpie marks are made, erased, and remade, and we agree that everything looks right. Somehow I would be happy to talk about this for another, oh, half-hour or so at least, but it really is time to do it -- like when you finally have to jump into the cold ocean and swim. Elayne practices her grip and gets her little instrument ready. I’m trying to do my yoga breaths and not wiggle around a lot, since I certainly don’t want to throw her off. Her touch is gentle but very firm, like a very good, strong massage therapist. Finally the needle (or is it a scalpel?) penetrates on my right -- there is a sharp pinch, a lot of pressure, a then a short strong wave of pain when the needle comes out the other side – Elayne had asked me not to swing my legs but they straightened out anyway. I was there for all this, and yet not quite there. But it was done, except for putting in the jewelry, which she did very quickly; and there it was, my newly decorated penis, looking pretty amazing (and very bloody!) Elayne congratulated me, and we had a little philosophical discussion about things that are “meant to be” – how her business was destroyed by Katrina but she ended up in Mexico, her book got published, and she does guest piercings all over the country. I got dressed and hugged her, and went home, very much wanting to be there and cool out, and paying the strictest possible attention to driving, and not the sensations in my crotch. The piercing was about 3:50 and it’s now 5:13 – bleeding seems to be slowing down somewhat and there is a mild throbbing sensation on the left side of the penis, where the needle came out. Days later -- I still feel like a little kid with new cowboy boots, except I can't show them to everybody, of course. I've had some bleeding, on and off, less every day, most at night if I have sexual dreams, which I have more of, since this piercing enforces a period of very strict celibacy -- you won't even think about touching yourself, let alone letting anyone else touch you.( This is -- interesting -- I find it makes anyone who is even moderately attractive look absolutely gorgeous. I was in a little cafe this morning and all the waitresses looked like goddesses, really.) Sensations at night include a rather dramatic squeezing in the glans, as the tissue expands around the barbell. Another post-piercing thought was sort of wishing I had a video -- which would be nice -- except I find that recording an event changes it; I can't really be inside the experience in the same way if I'm recording it. So I'm ok with just remembering. Overall -- no big problems -- not too much blood -- and the piercing seems to me astonishingly sexy. But that's just me. Thank you Elayne!

Thank you Elayne! You are a wonderful person and an amazing piercer!
I love the VCH and nipple piercings! The "treatment" looks great and they all feel pretty good too:) I can't wait until they're healed!
You were so lovely and calming and kind and I'm so very glad that I was pierced by you on April 16th. I can't wait until I go back for my triangle!
Thanks again, N

I had the pleasure of being pierced by Elayne in Philadelphia on of all the days of the year Friday the 13th. That did scare me a bit but it went better than expected.I am extremely needle phobic and if I could get through it anyone can. Elayne was very professional and gentle so I did not worry at all and felt completely at ease that I was getting my piercing done by the best person in the world. I got both a VCH and Triangle and I must say I am thrilled!!!!!! She was so gentle that the piercing I thought would hurt really badly, the triangle, did not hurt more than the triangle at all. If anything it was the same level of discomfort. Healing has been great, I am following all her instructions and a day later I had no major discomfort. I can't wait for them to heal completely and experiment with different jewelry. Elayne is simply the best and everyone should travel no matter how far to get their piercings done. You will have no regrets. It is so worth it!

I am extremely pleased with my decision to be pierced by Elayne at Infinite. She is not only knowledgeable, but she is passionate about her craft and that is reflected in the quality of work. I came in, contemplating either a VCH or a clitoral piercing and after a brief consultation and feedback as to my expectations, Elayne recommended a VCH. She readied her tools while talking me through the process. "Deep breath, exhale, and you will be pierced. I do not count to 3". Well just as easy as that it was over. Similar to the sensation of an ear lobe piercing, only in your lady parts. As she tightened my jewelry, I actually was laughing because physically this is a low pain procedure. Any stress or discomfort stems from your own psychological inhibitions and horror stories of those pierced by inexperienced piercers. Elayne is the best of the best and I am honored to have been pierced by her.

It was nice meeting you yesterday! You, and the staff at Infinite Body Piercing, made me feel welcome and very comfortable! I was a little nervous about getting pierced but your inviting and friendly personality put me at ease! I am very happy with my VCH piercing. I have no discomfort and I honestly don't even know its there!
April 16, 2012 - 7:59am
Thank you so much for doing my VCH piercing yesterday. Getting my piercing done by you was one of the greatest experiences I have ever had. Your tenderness coupled with your professionalism has me screaming "GO GET PIERCED BY ELAYNE!" from the rooftops. You are amazingly down to earth and while I was hopelessly star struck (and still am) you and the piercing were not in the least bit intimidating. I spent the rest of the day talking my boyfriend's ear off about how comfortable I was and how great the piercing feels already. I can't wait until it's healed, and neither can he ;-) Thank you for all of your hard work and if I ever decide to get anymore piercings, you will be the first person I think of.

Thank you so much for placing Julie of Cold Steel in Camden, London UK on your referrals page!
In March this year I received an improperly placed VCH piercing. I had attempted to do some research beforehand and found some online reviews for a place in Croydon, London, which in actual fact I had visited years before to have my tongue pierced (although they were now in "new" premises and were not the same staff that had worked there previously).
The reviews were pretty glowing about the studios ability to perform proper VCH piercings, with one girl even saying how she went to see them with a botched VCH piercing herself which they fixed for her! Her comments incuded how "the staff at X piercing" only use nrt's, and her original botched piercing was performed with clamps which this studio never use etc.. Sounds like a good review so far possibly, right?
So off I went, and the female piercer did indeed use clamps. I should have known right away to just get out but I didn't. I thought surely if they have had some good reviews about proper procedures I should trust their experience. The female piercer herself said that she had a VCH so has been in my position, and not to worry etc...
I took home a surface piercing too shallow into my hood and to say I was crestfallen was an understatement. I even had a cry about it as I was £49.50 worse off and knew I had to go through the pain all over again, but with no guarantee I could trust anyones recommendation, seen as online views were all I had to go on, and they weren't worth believing in my experience so far!
Thank goodness I found your online page. Your descriptions on VCH piercings and how to spot if they are done improperly was amazing. It had only been 6 days since my piercing and after reading your page and blog, I knew i had to get a second opinion and get it done again.
After seeing your recommendations page, I duly went to visit Julie at Cold Steel in Camden the very next day for a second opinion. She was lovely on the phone and even lovelier in person. I told her what had happened and how upset I was over it, and when she took a look she agreed that it wasn't right.
She wanted to place an NRT into my hood to see if it would travel past the piercing and deeper into my hood, seen as she couldn't see that well due to a little swelling. And of course it travelled way up past where the exit of the jewellery actually was. I could feel the distance between my piercing and the apex of my hood and I was actually shocked.
She said I was fine to have a proper VCH and had no idea why someone would use clamps on my anatomy. On her advice I removed the jewellery that day and came back to see her 3 week later to have it done again.
It has now been 3 weeks since I have had my hood re-pierced and I can confidently say that I couldn't be happier with my result! She was lovely and spent a lot of time explaining the whole situation to me.
I will be messaging her separately to say thank you and to say how grateful I was to her for helping me. I wanted to wait these weeks until I knew things were fine before I said anything. But honestly the healing has been textbook, no discomfort at all and it's placed in a way that makes me very happy!
If you hadn't put her name on your recommendations page, I would have felt very unconfident about trusting anyone to pierce me again, seen as it's so common for them do be done wrong. I am just so thankful to you for letting me know about her, and wanted to let you know I have had a positive experience with her. You have done me the greatest service by having her name here for me to see. And to cap it all off, she charged less than the first studio did!
Of course I risk sounding like everyone who has ever seen your page after a botched VCH but I wish I had seen your page first.
I just thought that seen as you agree to put your name to their ability, you would want to hear that these individual piercers are still doing a good job, just like anyone on here that ends up doing a not-so-good job.
And to anyone else looking for online reviews on Piercing shops to help you decide where to go, please do BEWARE where you end up choosing to go, seriously. I found the best online reviews you could get and still ended up with a botched piercing. If you can get to any piercers named on Elaynes list, take the time and money to visit them even if it seems like hassle. I ended up paying twice the price and experiencing twice the pain, and even then some people aren't as lucky and you could come out much worse!
All the best XxXx

Thank you for providing so much information about genital piercings. I used t think that genital piercings "weren't for me" but after reading through your website and doing some additional research, I have decided I want a VCH piercing. I am really hoping to be able to see you when you are in Philadelphia.

The Piercing Bible is fun, informative, and a pleasure to read! Anything and everything you need to know about piercing and body jewelry is in those pages. I was through it in two days, and sad there wasn't more! Thanks to Elayne for providing such a wonderful resource for both seasoned and newbie pierces!
