I received a question from a woman who got a surface VCH piercing. This was more disturbing than usual because she had seen this site and read all about the pirecing. Even so, she ended up with a VCH surface piercing:
Are you still finding the time to answer questions? If yes I have a question on surface VCH piercings: do you advise keeping them and if not why not?
I found your website and had a read through before getting my piercing but I guess no amount of reading can guarantee the result you're after. The lady I went to certainly talked the talk. I had the piercing done today and I'm not unhappy with the result but I think it may be incorrectly placed.
What is your opinion on my piercing? Can I keep it or do you think it will cause me issues further down the track? I can't really gauge the implications of a surface piercing from the info on your website.
Thanks for your time and assistance in advance,

I received an interesting message from a woman who is interested in getting a triangle piercing, but she has not had penetrative sex yet (and may never have had an orgasm):
I have been thinking about getting a triangle piercing for about 3 months now. I have trouble (or perhaps have never, am not super clear on this point) reaching orgasm and I think that this would help. From the information you gave on your site, I think that I am anatomically suited for it (yay). A friend implied that since I have not ever actually had penetrative sex, I should wait and "see if that makes a difference" (I am in my mid-twenties and attracted to men). In your professional opinion, do you think this piercing would make a difference? And do you think I should wait until after I have penetrative sex (that could be a while).
This is a very personal decision that I can't make for you. Though I can most certainly encourage you to wait until you're able to get to a piercer who is highly qualified, meaning someone I recommend, or me personally.
I can say (as a sexually savvy mature woman in my 50s) that you won't be fully versed on what you enjoy sexually until you get more experience. So you wouldn't be able to know, for example, how the piercing has enhanced sex, until you've had it.

I received a message from a gal who was having problems with an ear piercing:
I can't get a good picture of the piercing so I'll try my best to describe the situation. I got my 4th piercing on my earlobe around the end of May 2012, and I think I may have created another hole next to the actual piercing. The piercing is probably around 90% healed; the front hole is healed and never bleeds, but the back hole (where the earring comes out of) is still healing and sometimes will bleed a tiny bit. I've been cleaning my piercing with salt water and anti bacterial soap, I have not used any creams or lotions on it, it does not hurt or ache and there is no pus. However, I think I may have poked another hole at the back of my ear when I pushed the earring back through the hole after I took it out to clean it. So now, I think I have one front hole, and two holes in the back. The earring can go through the front and out the back in two separate holes, and the two back holes are not connected. Something might have ripped on the inside of the piercing. I'm trying to close one of the holes, and the skin on the new one has already formed over but the area around it looks a bit red. Should I continue to clean it as I have been doing? Or should I get it checked out?
Any information would be helpful, thanks!
Your description is good, but I'm still not going to be able to offer thorough advice without seeing you, or at least a clear, close up photo or two.
Are you wearing body jewelry or a traditional earring? When you wear body jewelry there is NO REASON to take the jewelry out to clean it!

I received a lot of questions about Prince Albert piercings from a man who was interested in getting one. Below is our correspondence:
Hi Elayne...Saw you were going to be in Philly and I missed you at Infinite (I live in Conn.). I'm what you might call an "older guy (over 50) and have been putting off getting a PA for years. Well, I'm ready but I want a seasoned pro like yourself. Who might you recommend? I know there are no safe piercing.org recommended in Conn., and I'll be back in my home town of Philly in late Aug. Anyone in particular at infinite you'd recommend for a PA? Thanks much!
Sorry I missed you in Philly last month; I would have loved to pierce you. Yes, I do have a referral at Infinite, and his name is Kellan. You'll be in good hands with him. All of my referrals information is on this page of my site:
Let me know how it goes, and if you do see someone I recommend, be sure to send my warmest regards.

I receieved a message from a woman who got a VCH piercing but she was concerned about the placement:
I just got my vch pierced two weeks ago...I'm afraid its too shallow and I can see the bar a little thru the skin. The piercer did use a receiving tube and said she used as much skin as possible ..and even performed the q tip test. In your opinion, should I take it out or is it ok.
If it is shallow do I have to take it out or is this something that I can manage? Will it migrate easier like it is?
From this view it looks rather shallow/close to the edge of your hood. But if it is placed at the apex (deepest point underneath) then it wouldn't necessarily be able to be done much further from the edge. Then there's the question of whether you were actually a suitable candidate to begin with.

I received a message from a woman who wanted to know if her VCH was correctly placed, along with some photos:
For comfort and ease of healing, I would have suggested you wear a bar rather than a ring. You are built with what I call a "hill" meaning your hood sticks out beyond your outer labia. This is as opposed to the build I refer to as a "valley" wherein the hood is recessed, and lower than the outer labia.
So that means your ring protrudes quite a distance from your body. This can impact healing through excess trauma, which can cause discomfort, pain, delayed healing, scar tissue, and/or migration.
You may have some swelling, which can make it hard to say for sure, but it looks as though it might be a little off toward the right side of your hood. I'd give it a few weeks to be sure after swelling comes down.
The part I can't see in these images is the most important part: where the ring comes through underneath. Due to tenderness, you may need to wait a few days or longer before getting a peek from the underside.

I received a message from a piercee in Italy who was concerned about her piercing:
I'm Italian and I've just ordered your book because by exploring your website I've understood that maybe you're one of the best piercers in the world.
Last week I got my first genital piercing, a "Nefertiti", but it is so short that it really looks like a VCH. Now I wear a 14 gauge curved bar (1.18’’ long) and after the healing time I really wanted to do a Triangle piercing, but I’ve contacted two different experts(both Italian professional piercers) and one of them thinks that I’ve a proper shape, whereas the other one says that it would be dangerous for me to make such a piercing.
My vaginal shape seems an apricot, but the upper side of my hood comes a little bit out from the outer labias. If you want I can send you a photo of it so that you can judge if you think I’ve the right shape to do this piercing or not and you can say how do you think my Nefertiti is made.
I’m really concerned about it and I hope you will help me!
Many thanks, R.
You appear to be somewhat small built for a triangle piercing. I need to see the other photos as shown and explained on this page: http://piercingbible.com/female-genital-piercings#Photo to properly evaluate you for a triangle.

I received a message from the husband of a client I performed multiple genital piercings on:
How are you doing? Hope all is well.
We have a quick question, Sharon unfortunately needs a knee replacement & will be the hospital for 3 days. We need remove her VCH & the outer labias that you did (both are 10 gauge). They might be out at least 2 days before I could put them back in. We read your book & you suggest retainers, where should we go to in NYC or what can I do myself. I could get fishing line but I not sure it comes in 10 gauge & how to close the ends so it does fall out for the 2 days.
Again so sorry to bother you,
Thanks again, H.
Sorry to hear about S's knee surgery. I hope all goes well.
You can look for retainers online by searching "piercing retainer" and similar phrases.
I'm not sure where you could buy them locally, though. You'd have to call around.
Let me know if you have any questions and please send her my wishes for a successful procedure and a speedy recovery!
