The design for my website www.piercingbible.com is just about to be updated, and that's surely for the best. But, one slightly sad (but unavoidable) thing that is that my old Guestbook will be no more, and the posts will be unavailable. Some related good news is that all of my previous blog posts will still be available in the archives on the updated site. So, I've decided to make a blog post "Best of the Guestbook" to preserve some of the entries. Here we go!

I just got another really wonderful review for The Piercing Bible on Amazon.com:
Excellent read!, December 22, 2009

This book is an extremely valuable asset to any bookcase. It is very thorough in explaining all of the different aspects of piercing including aftercare, and how piercings affect your everyday life. Angel has done a terrific job in providing what is, in my opinion, the most comprehensive, and complete book dealing with piercings. I can safely recommend this book to a wide range of people from piercees, and potential piercees to parents, and the medical community - people who come into contact with piercings on a daily basis. The book is very informative and is written in a very accessible albeit conservative tone which I feel makes it an easy read for people from all walks of life. Everybody is sure to learn something from this book - maybe even piercers! The illustrations are excellent, very clear and easy to follow as well. Angel includes many useful tips including the use of emu oil and tips on changing jewellery which I personally found very helpful!

I just ran into a whole page of wonderful mini-reviews at bodyartforms:
Posted on 12/5/2009 So far Im loving this book! Ive learned so many interesting facts that Im rambling off to my family lol I would highly recommend for someone who wants a piercing or just anyone interested in piercings =]
Posted on 11/27/2009 This is a must have book for anyone interested in body piercing, it is probably the best and most comprehensive book you could buy on the subject right now. The book covers a wide range of subjects and includes diagrams. I would have preferred the book to include colour photographs and for me it spent too much time on the basics (but this would be a positive for people new to the subject).
Posted on 10/16/2009 Very comprehensive book. Has lots of info for beginners and also plenty of interesting things for those who have been around awhile. Wish I had this book 10 years ago!

When I first saw the headline of a review on this site:
DO NOT Buy The Piercing Bible
It made my stomach drop. I thought I was about to read my first bad review. Then it went on: Do not waste your time buying the Piercing Bible if you have done over 40,000 piercings, was a medical liaison to the Association of Professional Piercers, and ran the only body piercing studio in the French Quarter in New Orleans for 12 straight years. Also, do not waste your time buying the Piercing Bible if you simply want to continue sucking at being a piercer or a piercee. And I began to realize that it was actually a very positive review! It went on: If you have done all of the above things, than your name must be Elayne Angel; author of The Piercing Bible and you should probably just ignore this post as it will be completely useless to you. If you answered no to ANY of the above questions and you want to be a better piercer or piercee, than you need to get this book. Period. I don’t care if you’ve done 39,999 piercings and this afternoon you’ll hit your 40,000th with that belly button you have booked…you still need to get this book.

If you want to watch how I perform piercings, you can see me doing them in graphic detail here: http://clips4sale.com/10557. There's also a great video of me examining different configurations of female anatomy and describing which piercings are possible and where exactly they chould be placed. They aren't meant as "how-to" videos, but they do show a lot about how I do what I do.

I got an email about this very unusual (and dangerous!) piercing:
Hi Elayne, My name is Chris. I just had a question for you and would like your input. I just got my ankle pierced between the ankle bones and the achille's tendon. I've had it in for two weeks and its a 14 gauge PTFE. The piercing is great and everybody either thinks I'm crazy or they love it. It's healing just fine, a little sore but I was expecting that. My question is, do u see any long term damage or and problem with this piercing at all? If you could please email me back I would love your advice. ChristopherMy response: Hi Christopher, I'll openly admit to you that this isn't a piercing I would do or recommend. As my book, The Piercing Bible, describes it in the "Risky Piercings" section:
Piercing behind bone, tendon, or other anatomical structure can cause excessive bleeding, nerve damage, and/or loss of function. So, the risks are pretty serious and certainly should cause you to be very careful with it and to take it out if you experience any loss of function. I ran into an interesting article online: What Massage Therapists Should Know About Body Piercings. It was well written and factual with the exception that they reiterated the ubiquitous piercing myths: that Roman soldiers pierced their nipples and that Egyptian pharaohs pierced their navels. I also contend that the rate of complications would be a lot lower if consumers were better educated--and now they can be, thanks to The Piercing Bible!
