I got this message from a girl seeking advice about jewelry for her smiley piercing:
Hi I'm D.,
I was wondering if you could help me out with something, although I'm not sure if this is a type of help you can give. I have my smiley pierced and I recently snagged it a little. Which I have noticed it might have torn little enough to not bother me, but enough that it is now sitting a tiny bit lower then when initially pierced. Was sitting on the lower gum line. Now I can just barely feel it touching some tooth.
Now I know these ones are pretty risky as far as migration goes, but I'm madly in love with it and want to do anything to keep it without risk. My problem is it is now causing one of my front teeth to be incredibly sensitive and this was never a problem before. I know I can go smaller in diameter as far as the captive bead ring goes, or just flat out switch to a bent barbell which I want to avoid the barbell unless it's my only option.
So I've spent the last week trying to find somewhere that has a CBR with a silicone or silicone like bead instead of surgical steel to protect my teeth more if rubbing happens. I know they make them commonly in larger gauges and the smallest I can seem to find is a 10g. I definitely DO NOT want to put anything bigger then the 18g I have now.
Don't want to lose my pretty piercing, and with bigger sizes it's pretty much inevitable. What I'm so slowly getting at is do you have any idea where I could find some? Preferably the internet if possible, if not that's okay too. Or maybe somewhere I can custom order it? I hope you can help! By the way I looove your site! You're awesome! Talk to you soon.

This is a continuation of my discussion from my previous blog post about stretching a Prince Albert piercing:
How or what does migration look/feel like? The stretch was done by the piercer who did the PA. It felt like a lot of pressure for a very brief second when it was stretched last week. I did not see the blood until I peed and like I said it was very little. They used a horseshoe about a 1" I am guessing. I normally wear underwear. I had some crusting the first couple of days but that is all over with. I did soak it the first couple of days after the stretch. It easily moves in the shower. I wanted a barbell for the stretch but they were out. The original piercing was done Nov 1st last year.
Thank you for your help.

I got this message from a piercer who is concerned about her clients:
I was wondering what are your thoughts on healing time on navel Piercings? At the shop i work at we have ton of parents with minors getting their navels pierced and plan on swimming at lakes, pools, hot tubs. We try and educate them as much as we can but I feel like it's not getting through to them even college-adults aren't listening to our advice is there any suggestion on what we should do? (we talk to them about it first then hand out the basic care information.
I describe the healing time for navel piercings as 6-9 months. They're likely to have some ups and downs and seem healed off and on within that time, but they can expect to be in an ongoing healing phase for an extended period of time.

I just got back from an amazing trip to Las Vegas for the Association of Professional Piercers annual Conference and Expo. It was held at Bally's Hotel and Casino, which was a nice change from the past 2 years at the Tropicana, and a really nice step up from the prior 7 at the Riviera.

I received a question from a piercee who had gotten her cheeks pierced:
I got my cheeks pierced last Saturday. It didn't hurt at all and I was really happy with them because I had been wanting it done for so long. They aren't too far back, they are perfect. BUT.. the next day they were really swollen and have been getting more and more swollen everyday. The balls on the inside of my mouth are digging into my cheeks and I have no way to contact my piercer since I lost her card and it was done at a street fair and that is gone now. When i push the ball from the inside out, puss comes out. It's a yellowish white color. All around the piercings on the outside is hard. I really don't want to take the piercings out since I have wanted them for so long and spent so much money on getting them done. I can't even go to a local shop because nobody around here does cheek piercings. (Nobody ever wanted to pierce them for me in the shops because of the risks, that's why I think it was so expensive) I also heard that if it is infected, (which I really hope it isn't) taking out the piercing could trap the infection inside when the hole closes... I've been cleaning them with saline solution and rinsing my mouth with water and the salt that the piercer gave me, and I am also taking Ibuprofen for the swelling and eating lots of ice and putting ice on my cheeks. I really need your advice! Thanks.

I received this message from a woman I pierced many years ago.

I received a message from a piercee who is concerned about the size of the tongue jewelry in his new piercing:
So recently i got my tongue pierced, and ive been taking care of it rather well if i dont say so myself but something is bugging me, and i have asked my piercer and he says its fine but it still bugs me. You know how when you get your tongue pierced the ball of the barbell creates that crater? well the ball of my piercing is all the way sunken into it and i can't see it when my tongue is laying relaxed in my mouth. But i can push the piercing up and the ball will pop out of the crater just fine but will always sink in after. Now the guy who pierced my tongue said that this is fine and that my tongue is just swollen and this will go away, but for some reason the people I talked to about this ( who have their tongues pierced as well) hasnt encountered their ball sinking into their crater this badly. So im just a over worring person.Im wondering if something happened or im just that small percent of people where this happens all time and im just not aware of it.
If you can help me thank you so much !

I received a very touching message from a reader whose life was obviously impacted in a positive way from reading my book:
I would like to say that you are truly an inspiration. After buying your book 2 years ago, I realized that I have always felt my body was lacking something... To put it simply, ownership. But also, decoration (because thats always fun)!
Body modification has helped me reclaim my body after sexual assault and depression. I spent most of my childhood and teenage years suffering from anxiety and low self-esteem, and after years of thinking I was less than beautiful, I discovered your book.
I had always fawned over body modification and piercings, but I never thought it was right for me. Then, I read your book. Your book opened up a world that would change me for the better; spiritually, physically, sexually and mentally. Ive slowly begun my journey of changing my body to match my soul. And thanks to the knowledge and expertise of your book, I can do it safely and properly. I dont know where I'd be without it- certainly not as strong and self-confident as I am now! Haha.
And this message from a piercer who found my book useful, in other ways:
Subject: Piercing Bible
I've been piercing for 12 years and I recently received a copy of your book as a present and I must thank YOU!
Despite being in the industry for a good few years I still learned a lot and a lot of what I knew has been confirmed.
What a great resource, especially for anxious clients.
