body piercing book

Amazing review on Google Books that I hadn't seen before:
To call this book "the definitive guide" is an understatement. This book shall remain the definitive guide for the next hundred years. As a piercee and a piercer I can say with honesty that there is nothing that I know that isn't in this book. Against it's intended use, this book is an invaluable tool for any body piercer to further hone their skills and gain a better understanding of many details that commonly get ignored in the industry.
Everyone considering a body piercing should read this book. Knowledge is power, and knowing better what to expect when walking into a piercing studio will ensure a quality piercing that you can enjoy for the rest of your life. The savvy acquired from reading this book will help you recognize good, clean studios from sub par, inexperienced ones, which could potentially save your life.
The author has a very straight forward presentation of her decades of accrued data. There are no frills or fluff in this book. She lays everything out directly with a subtle wit shining through that made me chuckle dozens of times.

In Running the Gauntlet pioneer Jim Ward provides a captivating in-depth narrative on the origins of the modern body piercing industry. I was completely spellbound by Ward’s uncensored personal history, and his account of establishing a unique business that has brought genuine change to contemporary culture. Prior to Jim Ward’s founding of Gauntlet Enterprises, piercing was a little-known activity practiced by people on the fringes of society. Now, as a result of his actions, there are piercing studios all around the globe and millions of pierced individuals. The quantity of “firsts” that are under Jim Ward’s belt (figuratively, and perhaps literally) is remarkable.
This volume would stand on its own as a text, but the phenomenal collection of historical images throughout the book transported me on a journey across time right along with the author. The rich visuals make the story accessible and wholly satisfying.
Even those who are not involved in body piercing would love this book because the tale itself is so intriguing, and so compellingly and candidly recounted. Don’t miss this must-read memoir!

I got a fantastic message on my YouTube account:
I just wanted to thank you for writing The Piercing Bible, it has helped me grow as a piercer and develop a deep love for piercing. I started piercing as a way to get my foot in the door to the tattoo industry but my teacher put her heart and soul into teaching me how to pierce and always talked about you and your book. I have ordered two copies of your book, one for my home and one for the shop I work at. Thank you so much for inspiring so many people and for indirectly helping me find my first and second loves one being piercing and the second my teacher, we are now engaged to be married. thank you
Thanks so much for your message and congratulations to you and your fiance!
That sure gave me a warm fuzzy feeling! I'm thrilled to hear that my book has proved to have such a positive impact on your career and your perspective on piercing. I can't say I ever imagined that my book would ever be responsible (even indirectly) for a romantic connection. I'm so happy that you shared your good news with me.
Send my warmest regards and respect to your mentor/fiance. I wish the two of you a lifetime of happiness together.

I received this wonderful message as a posting on the Piercing Bible guestbook:
I really can't describe how good it feels to have found your website. I've
been interested in body modification for a few years now and though I have
only a few piercings, it's people like you who inspire me to treat my body as
a work of art. It makes me proud to have such a strong woman like yourself
representing the body mod community in such positive light.
Thank you so much for giving me such a positive role model. You give me
strength to remember who I am and not let society tell me what is and isn't
acceptable and normal. Perhaps one day you'll come to New Zealand and I'll
get the opportunity to be pierced by you.
Stay gorgeous, gorgeous.
Maybe some day I will come to New Zealand. I have some friends/colleagues at Streetwise Body Piercing and Tattooing in Auckland. I hope to visit and maybe do some piercings! If you want to stay up to date with my travels, sign up for my free newsletter (in the box in the left lower corner of this page).

The design for my website www.piercingbible.com is just about to be updated, and that's surely for the best. But, one slightly sad (but unavoidable) thing that is that my old Guestbook will be no more, and the posts will be unavailable. Some related good news is that all of my previous blog posts will still be available in the archives on the updated site. So, I've decided to make a blog post "Best of the Guestbook" to preserve some of the entries. Here we go!

I ran into this post in which The Piercing Bible was described as "Required Reading" on the topic of body modification:
This entry is more geared towards apprentices and those into the “past” surrounding our body modification industry/community,etc. However this is also very much available, immensely encouraged, for those out there who are clients/consumers or just general people interested in Body Modification. I believe these to be required reading (regardless if you agree or disagree with whats written), specifically for the typical apprentice that is starting out. They should read them and then approach their instructor/teacher/mentor and spark up discussions and healthy debates regarding this stuff.
Two books were listed in the post, (one other in addition to my own). I'm honored by the company, as the other book was Shannon Larratt's Opening Up Body Modification Interviews 1995-2008.

This book is an extremely valuable asset to any bookcase. It is very thorough in explaining all of the different aspects of piercing including aftercare, and how piercings affect your everyday life. Angel has done a terrific job in providing what is, in my opinion, the most comprehensive, and complete book dealing with piercings. I can safely recommend this book to a wide range of people from piercees, and potential piercees to parents, and the medical community - people who come into contact with piercings on a daily basis. The book is very informative and is written in a very accessible albeit conservative tone which I feel makes it an easy read for people from all walks of life. Everybody is sure to learn something from this book - maybe even piercers! The illustrations are excellent, very clear and easy to follow as well. Angel includes many useful tips including the use of emu oil and tips on changing jewellery which I personally found very helpful!
