I got a question from an aspiring piercer:
I really love all that you do for the piercing industry. And with that being said i am just starting out in the piercing industry. I've just recieved my piercing license. And was wanting to know where you get your tools and piercing supplies from. And if you would know of anyone in the Lincoln or Omaha Nebraska area who you would recommend to try to get an apprentership with.

I received this message from a woman I pierced many years ago.

I received this message from a reader:
Elayne, the book was amazing! I always had a feeling that the old shop I was going to was not the cleanest or most knowledgeable place in the world, and now I am certain haha! You have really opened my eyes to a lot of things that I just didn't look at before. I plan on enrolling in my classes soon, and hopefully with what I learned from your book I will have a bit of a head start above my competition for an apprenticeship. Also, your aftercare section was great. I have heard a ton of varying viewpoints, but never any reason other than "it just works." The piercer who did my lip told me to use anti-bacterial soap and peroxide to clean my lip ring, and now I no longer have it because it wouldn't heal. I wish I would have found your book sooner! It probably would have been able to keep it!
Also, I found a video on YouTube after reading your book that you might be able to use as a "how not to pierce" guide. Here you go: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4bYU4fLYIVk
Any way, thanks again for everything. You are the best. I am going to be far more picky when I get my septum pierced and when I look for my apprenticeship. Thank you so very much!

I got this lovely message, which I guess I have to label "fanmail" from a Facebook friend:
Hey there, thanks for friending me. It's nice to see my biggest inspiration on Facebook. Love the book btw, I just bought another copy for my girlfriend who is starting her apprenticeship. You've helped me with so much in the past, and I feel to be so much more educated because of it.
I'm sure you don't remember viewing my photobucket portfolio, but the comments you responding to me in the return email helped alot, and the fact that you took the time to do it was awesome. Keep doing what your doing. I love it. Educate the world, this industry needs more people like you to go above, beyond, and inspire piercers like myself to do the same. Medical courses, the in depth attention to proper aftercare, and so much more.
It's sad to see some "piercers" that don't take that kind of initiative to achieve what you have. Keep in touch, you're a beautiful person, a master of the trade, and an asset to this industries growth and popularity. Thanks again for everything.

Today I got an interesting email from an aspiring piercer:
My name is Jordan and I was an apprentice up until a few days ago. I got your book and started reading "How To Choose A Piercer" and the piercing and aftercare techniques and realized that the person that I was learning from was not a skilled piercer. He was recommending baby shampoo as his sole aftercare product! I looked up the ingredients and among fragrances and surfactants were other irritants that were both genotoxic and cytotoxic! So I wanted to thank you because in reading the book twice I increased my knowledge tenfold! My girlfriend and I literally read your book together in bed :) Also the other day I was on the Rings of Desire site and saw that you used to sell autographed posters? Where was I?!? haha :) I'd love an autographed picture or poster! Would Love to hear from you soon!Hi Jordan, Thanks for your email. I'm so glad to hear that my book has proven to be helpful to you, and that you took the time to let me know about it. Unfortunately, there are a lot of bad piercers out there, and plenty of them are taking on apprentices to create yet more untrained, unskilled practitioners. My hope is that my book will help to elevate the whole industry. By creating educated consumers, it helps put those hacks out of business. I didn't imagine it was going to be the kind of book couples read in bed together! That kind of feedback sure puts a big smile on my face. You can get an autographed poster by ordering one through LeRoi. I'll be at their studio in Manhattan June 26-28 having a book signing and doing piercings. I've had a box of posters shipped there, and I can sign one for you and have it shipped out.
