I recently contributed an article about nipple piercing to a great website called the-clitoris.com. Previously I'd let them post information I'd written about female genital piercings. You can find the nipple piercing article here, and for convenience it is reprinted below:
The contrast of metal jewelry through the flesh of a nipple is truly exotic and striking. Nipple piercing defines the region, frames the tissue, and makes the nipple stand at attention (though it doesn’t necessarily cause the nipple to remain erect at all times). Prior to the early 1990s, when navel piercings became popular, nipples were the most prevalent location for body piercings. Modern piercing enthusiasts—particularly in the gay and SM subcultures—explored the erotic potential of their bodies and started what has become the current style of nipple piercing. These days, people from all walks of life are experiencing the delights of this piercing. For some, it is simply an aesthetic preference or fashion statement; for others it reigns as a favorite in the realm of sexual and sensual pleasures.

I just saw the latest review of The Piercing Bible on Google books:
User Review - Johnny T This book is the best! I have been piercing for three years and i thought i knew a lot, but i recently picked up this book and it opened a whole new world for me! If you like body art it is an amazing ... More book to read and if you are learning how to perform body art then it is a must have! I have introduced all of my co-workers, friends and family to this book and all of them agree that it is great!
I also noticed that I have a total of 11 reviews there that have 5 stars, and none of them have any less than that, which is pretty wonderful and exciting!

I was out of town for the past week in Mexico City for the Association of Professional Piercers Seminars. It was the 4th annual seminar there, but the first one that I attended. Following the seminars, the Board of Directors had a meeting. It was a great trip and I really enjoyed Mexico City. I taught two classes there and participated in a round table discussion on piercing techniques (forceps vs. freehand). The first class was on Male Genital piercings and my co-instructor, Danny Yerna, led the class. I'd created a PowerPoint presentation for the class, and he and I had translated it into Spanish. I'm super excited and proud that I led the second class on Female Genital Piercings, and it was the first time I've ever taught a seminar in Spanish. I know my vocabulary is pretty good, but having learned from immersion (rather than in a classroom), my verbs are not conjugated properly, and I'm lacking a lot of the small connective words. But the important part is that the students said that I was clear and easy to understand. I'd sent 20 copies of The Piercing Bible to Mexico City, but between the shipping costs and duties that had to be paid, the cost came out higher than the cover price! Still, Danny (the APP International Liaison who organized the seminars and owns a studio in Mexico City) had sold them all before I even arrived! I wish I had a Spanish language version, as I know it would have sold very well there. Hopefully someday there will be versions in multiple languages!

Part of my volunteer work for the Association of Professional Piercers involves updating the website. I've been trying for days to figure out how to post the code to make it easy to share our banners, but I'm having a hard time with it. So I'm testing it out here. Does the banner work?

I just received an email from a woman in Australia and my book has had an effect on her:
Dear Elayne, I have been reading a preview of your book on google books. First, thank you for allowing the preview to be posted. From what I have read, I know I need to go and purchase the book! I am a 25 year old girl (woman?), who, after much soul searching and deliberation have decided to put my nursing degree on hold and pursue body piercing as a career. Through my research I have realised I have much to learn before I can even set foot in a piercing studio as an apprentice. I stumbled upon your book after a recommendation to visit safepiercing.org. I found your writing to be clear and concise, and explained everything in detail without rambling. By reading your book I have become more confident in my desire to become a body piercer, and you have helped me understand the link between the piercer and the piercee. I know I have lots (and lots) to learn, but I think that I may be able to follow my dream. Without ever meeting me, you have played a part in this. And for that I thank you. Leah NSW, Australia
My response: Hi Leah, Thanks so much for the positive feedback. I'm thrilled that my book has proved helpful to you. I wish you all the best. Sincerely, Elayne

I know this isn't along the lines of my usual piercing-related topics, but I wanted to share this with you. Since I live in the Yucatan in a Mayan pueblo, it is definitely of interest to me, and hopefully you will find it interesting too. The Shift of the Ages film is a docudrama: a timely, artistic and inspiring expression of ancient wisdom and prophecy proclaimed by our Indigenous Elders. The Shift of the Ages is a true account of the Mayan prophecies, the life and mission of Grandfather Cirilo and the momentous evolutionary shift currently underway in our cosmos.

I got this email today from the parent of a girl who wants to be a piercer:
Dear Angel, My adult daughter Rachel is very keen on getting into the Piercing profession. She has worked at a couple of places that provide tattoo services and piercing services. The work has strengthened her resolve. Recently she asked if I could see about getting your book for her – she really wanted it signed by you. I know she would really be pleased if you addressed it to her and signed it. We live in near Vancouver Canada but have a mailing address in Lynden Washington. Would you mind addressing a book to “Rachel” and maybe wish her well? She is a fan for sure and I do my best to support my daughter – I love her dearly. I would be happy to send you a cheque or whatever method of payment you prefer. Thank you for considering my request. Sincerely, Neil
This is my response: Hi Neil, Thanks for your email. How wonderful that you are such a supportive parent! I'd be happy to personalize the book for her, but I now live in Mexico and I don't stock books here or have any means to accept payment. The Piercing Bible is being sold by the Association of Professional Piercers (APP), and when you purchase from them, you do receive a book that I signed, and 25% of the proceeds go to the organization. In any case, the APP is an organization she should definitely know about. Here is the link where my book can be found: http://www.safepiercing.org/publications/the-piercing-bible/ They do ship internationally, so you can have it sent to whichever address you prefer. She may wish to sign up for my email list in the top right corner of this site.
