VCH piercing

VCH Piercing Placement Question

I received this message from a woman who has a VCH piercing:

Slightly shallow VCH with curved barI have a well healed vch that is over five years old at this point. I've known from the start that it's a bit on the shallow side, but not extreme shallow. I have a relatively deep hood which can completely cover a q-tip, and the exit point of the vch is maybe 1/8" off from the apex. It looks fine from the front and feels fine, the bottom ball does rest squarely on my clit. The only issue I ever have is that it sometimes likes to pop up like a turkey timer, which can feel a bit odd but doesn't hurt. It's not that it's ever bothered me per say, but I do wonder if I'm missing out on sensation because it doesn't go through the apex and if it would be less inclined to pop up if it did. But I worry about rejection since there's an established fistula from the current piercing so close to where the new one would go. I mean really established; at one point a few years ago, I didn't wear jewelry in it for over a year, yet it never shrunk down past a 16 (was pierced at 14g). So I don't think it will ever close up on me. I also worry a little about the aesthetic of having a hole from the old piercing in front of a new one. Call me vain, but I don't want to ruin the look of things as I happen to be rather a fan of my vulva. Would I likely be running into any problems if I opted for a redo? Am I even really missing out on much since the ball sits where it's supposed to? I don't know if it's worth the effort to try for perfect placement or if I'm splitting hairs with this. What's more important for the sensation, the placement of the bottom ball or the placement through the apex? Thank you so much for your time, A.

Yet ANOTHER Accidental Clitoris Piercing (Botched VCH) Hood Piercing

Argh! I received yet another message from a woman who went in requesting a vertical clitoral hood (VCH) piercing and ended up getting her hood pierced to her clitoral glans pierced due to visiting an unqualified, untrained piercer. She wrote:

Yet ANOTHER Accidental Clitoris Piercing (VCH requested)

I recently got a VCH piercing but I think its not placed right. As you can see the piercing does not come through the hood, the lower ball is too far down. When i got the piercing it was very painful and a lot of blood came out.

My reply:
I'm sure it was very painful, because that is NOT a hood piercing: YOU HAVE HAD YOUR CLITORIS PIERCED!

Your hood is actually pierced to your clitoris. You're going to need to take that out but you should talk to the owner of the business and get your money back.

Where did you get this done?

She wrote again:

I had thought it was pierced through that from the pain i went through.

I will try and remove it myself as i don't want to go back to the place that did it.
I got it done in Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland.

I was going to go to a piercing shop in Belfast tomorrow to see if they would remove it for me, as I don't want to make it worse.

Then she said:

Piercing Secretions on Healed Hood (VCH) Piercing

I received this message from a woman who was concerned about secretions on her jewelry in a healed VCH piercing:

Hi Elayne, I have had my vch pierced for almost a year. While cleaning in the shower I noticed a small amount of white stuff around the shaft of the bar. It is in between the bar and skin. With some research I found that it is a small amount of smegma. I've gone to my gyno and I don't have an infection or STD.

How can I clean under the piercing and the skin that covers the bar? The smegma makes me very self conscious. Thank u tons & bunches, J.

Positive Feedback

Here's a lovely note I received with a Paypal message from a client I just pierced. She got a VCH piercing:

Elayne, I was experiencing a bit of a "high" today after my piercing, and I forgot to tip you for your work! I'm embarrassed and sorry. It was a pleasure meeting you, and I'm thrilled with all aspects of my experience today. You made me feel comfortable and cared for. Thank you again. Joanne

Another Accidental Clitoral Glans Piercing (With Photos)--FOLLOW-UP Added

I received this message from a woman who got a terribly botched genital piercing:

I just got a genital piercing done today and shortly after the piercing I noticed it looked a little bit off. I started doing some research and I can’t find any piercings that look like mine. The gentleman at Steel N Ink in Port Dover, Ontario, told me that it was a Christina piercing BUT from the research I did the Christina look s nothing like what he did for me.

He clearly had no idea what he was talking about. I had told him I wanted a vertical clit piercing and when we pulled up pictures online it was the vertical clit hood piercing that I wanted and I told him that was what I wanted done. I know very well what the VCH looks like and this looks nothing like it or the Christina either. Plus when I got the piercing I think he went right through my clit because I was practically screaming when I had it done. The clit should not be  piercing for a VCH but the end of the piercing should sit on the clit. This goes through the middle of the hood through the clit and out the bottom where I pee. So when I do urinate the ball on the bottm of the piercing gets urinated on ,I dont believe thats normal. Its like my hood is stapled over my clit and and through. Plus it wont stop bleeing. Its only bleeding a lil but its constant and my clit is very sensitve right now. lll send pictures, please help me.

Thank you.

A Shallow Vertical Clitoral Hood (VCH) Piercing With Photos

I received a message from a woman who had visited this site and she thought there was something not quite right with her VCH piercing:

I just got a vch piercing. While it seems to sit right I am concerned it is a bit too shallow.
I have attached some pictures, would you advice having it taken out/redone later?  Is there any way gauging up would help? (it is a small diameter at the moment.)

My reply:

The piercing is quite far away from the apex of your hood. If you would like to have a piercing that is further from the edge of your hood (where the VCH is optimally placed) then you should remove this jewelry and have it done by a different piercer.

If you're happy with it, you can heal it, but I would NOT advise stretching, since it is shallower the it should be (closer to the edge of your hood). Though what you're wearing looks unusually small from what I can see--or at least it doesn't look proportionate to your anatomy.

VCH Piercing too Deep (with Photo)

I received a message from a woman in the Caribbean who got a VCH piercing and she felt it wasn't right:

Deep VCH piercingHoping you can help. I'm a very avid from from all the way in the Caribbean that spends a lot of time on your site. Recently (yesterday) I got a VCH done that I've been wanting forever.  However, it does not look like the pics I see on your site.  I think the ring is either too small or it was pierced to far up. Meaning the ring enters exactly at the top of my clitoral hood and  looks like its fighting to stay in.  Can I send you a pic and you let me know if I should take it out please please? I really don't want anything to go wrong in my precious nether region.
Thanks!

Creative (But Wrong) Surface Female Genital Piercing Placed to Side of Hood

I received this message:

I got my vch done about a week and a half ago. I have several ear piercings but no body piercings. I'm 40 and going through some big changes in my life. A friend gave me a gift certificate to a local shop, which I researched and I thought this a good time and place to do a vch.

A Vertical Clitoral Hood (VCH) Surface Piercing Off to the Side
The Piercing

The healing process has been pretty standard. Salt soaks, ice and neutragena soap. However, I've noticed that it's swollen on the left side of the piercing. And it's incredible itchy - not on the piercing itself but around it. It's not oozey or overly red or painful (at all) just itchy and lopsidedly swollen.

I'm just wondering if I should take it out or if it's too soon to tell.

I've read that you advise people with piercing questions. I understand if this is wrong info.
Just wondering.
Thank you
