Interesting Question about "Effectiveness" of Female Genital PIercings

I recently got a very interesting question I hadn't been asked before:

Though you may not be able to answer this I'd like to ask if you know an estimated percentage of women who sexually benefit from VCH and HCH piercings. My main reason for doing it is enhancing orgasms, not anatomical "beauty". I've read that few women truly get more or easier orgasms through piercings. If its less likely I'd have some improvement its probably not worth it for me.
Would you have any idea?
Thank you!
T.

My reply:

Did you read this page of my site: http://piercingbible.com/female-genital-piercings ?

It explains that VCH VCH and Triangle Piercing and triangle piercings (both shown in image, right) are the two that are most commonly "functional" for women and those are the placements that are more likely to increase stimulation and sexual enjoyment. And that the HCH is primarily ornamental for most women.

I can also say that I do get a great deal of positive feedback from women who describe the genital piercings I do for them as "great" or "wonderful" and report, "I love it!" but they don't necessarily provide me with particulars in every case. From the feedback I receive, I'd have to say it seems "worth it"--as that is the overall sense I get from my clients. Here's a comment from a recent posting on my guestbook:

Accidental Clitoris Piercing: Failed Attempt at a Vertical Clitoral Hood (VCH) Piercing

This is no joke. A woman went in for a clitoral hood piercing and ended up with an accidental piercing of her clitoral glans! This is one of the reasons I try to suggest people travel if necessary to get pierced by me or visit the piercers I refer to. We know how to place a VCH piercing safely and in the proper location. Unfortunately, many piercers haven't got a clue.

Many women end up with shallow VCH piercings or surface VCH piercings, but this is an error I've seen time and time again. PLEASE BE CAREFUL! Ask your piercer where they got specific training to perform genital piercings--not just how long they've been piercing. I know of piercers who have been doing a poor job for 10-15 years or more. A lengthy career does not guarantee competence!

Here's the message I recently received:

Hello Elayne, Accidental Clitoris Piercing (VCH attempt)
I have a quick question about a piercing that I received a week ago.  I had a VCH piercing which I believe was too shallow and migrated and so had to be removed.  I let it heal for about 6 months and then went to a different studio to have it done again.

The first time was exactly as you describe with a 'pinch' sensation and my ears were definitely a more painful piercing.  This time was one of the most painful experiences of my life, which I attributed to it being placed properly this time and having some scar tissue.

Botched Horizontal Clitoral Hood (HCH) Piercing with Photo

Here's an exchange I had with a woman who suspected right away that there was something wrong with her Horizontal Clitoral Hood (HCH) piercing:

I just had a HCH piercing done this afternoon, but 'm freaking out and need some help.... It's swollen a bit and all the time I check it, is still bleeding! Didn`t have any pain after getting it done, just felt a little unconfortable when I walked up to the supermarket few hours later. But is all about this bleeding that seems no to stop! Am so worried and thinking of taking it of... Please would love if you could give me an advice! Thanks ever so much!

I Couldn't Resist

Just Ears

My husband found this image (and I'd be very happy to credit whoever is responsible, if anyone can tell me!) and I just had to post it here.

Enjoy!

Biangle vs. Triangle

The optimal location for the triangle piercing is at the natural base of the hood, as high as it can go and still be underneath the nerve bundle (that's where you are going to get maximum stimulation from the jewelry).

Triangle Piercing (properly placed)
Photo above is of a properly placed triangle piercing with custom-bent circular barbell (so the jewelry rests back against the body, which is great for safety and comfort during healing!).

Extreme Swelling of Pierced Clitoral Hood After Sex (With Photos)

I had a piercee (not someone I pierced personally) contact me to say she was concerned about her genital piercings due to localized swelling following sexual activities:

VCH and Triangle piercing (with teardrop ring)I know you are super busy, and I totally appreciate you taking some of your time out to read and reply to my issue. I got a VCH on July 2nd and then I got a Triangle done on Sept 10th of this year. I haven't had any problems with the healing process but I have noticed lately when I have somewhat rough sex my hood gets quite swollen (like it kind of balloons up to maybe 2x its size). It gets really sensitive and discomforting and I don't know if its because the Triangle is still healing or is this a side effect of having both piercings? Or a combo of both?

Thank you for everything! You are an awesome woman and I love your book! You rock!

Yet Another (Different) Shallow Hood Piercing (VCH Piercing--with Photo)

I am so sorry to keep bugging you, but I'm very disappointed. After being curioAnother Shallow VCH Piercing (Marked)us as to why I wasn't receiving much clitoral stimulation from my piercing, I did a little more exploring of the area. I do think that this guy placed the bottom of the piercing a bit too far from the apex of my clitoral hood. I know I sound like a scrooge, but I didn't spend my hard earned money on a piercing that's only going to look pretty and not function as it should.

You can imagine how pissed off I am right now. I have attached a picture exposing the underside of my hood. Please give me your opinion. If you concur, I have a couple of questions for you.

Do you think I should abandon the piercing, or would simply changing the jewelry to a j-curve solve the issue? If I abandon the piercing, how long should I wait before getting re-pierced properly? Finally, can you recommend any piercers in California? (Preferably in the southern California or inland empire areas.) Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you so much. Xoxo <3 A.
