vaginal piercing

Success at Sol Tribe

Hi Elayne,

I just wanted you to know that I went to Alicia of Sol Tribe Tattoo and Body Piercing for a VCH piercing.  If it weren't for your recommendation and awesome "Piercing Bible", I would never have done it and would still be a body art virgin!  Alicia was so sweet and informative.  Any outstanding question was answered and she definitely put me at ease.  I will highly recommend your book and Alicia to all of my friends.

Thanks again!

C.

My reply:

Hi C.,
Great! I'm happy (if not surprised) to hear that you had a great experience getting pierced by Alicia at Sol Tribe [in Denver, CO]. I'm so happy I could be of assistance!
Heal well and enjoy
Sincerely,
Elayne

A Hood Surface Piercing From New Zealand

Here's an exchange I had with a woman in New Zealand:

She wrote:

I know you are unlikely to travel to New Zealand so I went ahead and had a vch piercing performed locally. I thought I had asked the piercer all the right questions but I suspect he has got it wrong. I couldn't find anyone at all who uses a receiving tube but found someone who doesn't use clamps. Thought I was doing the right thing. At the moment I have a 12g ring with captive ball. It has healed well but there is now skin and flesh behind the ring. What should I do? I have a friend who is prepared to redo it for me - what are the risks? She has a copy of your book :) E

Hi E.,

Before doing anything else, I'd suggest you get her to lend you the book so that you can become well educated.

I'm not sure what you mean by "there is skin and flesh behind the ring"--can you send a clear, close-up photo or two so I can evaluate your current placement. What makes you think it is placed incorrectly?

If you think yours is improperly placed, that would be a reason to redo it. But if your friend is not a trained professional piercer, I HIGHLY advise against having her pierce you--even if she has a copy of my book (it is not a "how-to-pierce" book!).

Dear Elayne,

Question About a Bleeding VCH Piercing

I received this message through the contact page:

I got a VCH piercing 3 days ago by a very well known/good place. I was just wondering, mine is bruised pretty bad and semi swollen and it doesnt really hurt. My biggest concern is that it is bleeding alot. The hole where the jewelry comes out of has this blood looking tissue stuff (skin??) coming out of the hole. My piercing is bleeding alot but this stuff doesnt come off of my skin, its like tissue inside the hole where it is pierced. I have been cleaning it with sea salt solutions. Is this normal? I'm worried.  thank you, K.

Hi K.,

It is hard to evaluate you without seeing you (or at least a photo). Feel free to sign up for a piercing problem consultation, and I'll be happy to take a look.

Any piercing can bleed, bruise, and/or swell during the initial phase, though most of the VCH piercings I do don't seem to suffer from that during the aftermath very often.

Yes, Yet ANOTHER Surface VCH Piercing

Another Surface VCHI got yet another email about a surface VCH piercing:

Hey Elayne,
I'm sure you hear this often but your site is great, very informative...I had never stopped to think twice about genital piercing beyond the usual 'eek, not there' but after learning on your site (don't even remember what took me there in the first place) that it didn't have to be the actual clit itself pierced I was all for it. Unfortunately, I was so excited I went to the nearest female (husbands requirement) body piercer and had it done. Seemed fine at first but soon noticed it was more shallow of a piercing than I believe is correct (pic attached) and I am pretty sure I have plenty more hood that could have went into, not to mention it doesn't rest against the clit and there seems to be way too much barbell exposed (I think it just a standard barbell and that's the usual for this piercing right?) Oh and I'm not positive but it seems as if it is migrating though my husband says he doesn't notice..

I had noticed you will be in TX soon and would love to go there so you could fix this...as well as do both nipples (hoping will increase their sensitivity, breastfed 2 babies and my daughter was a lil monster about it!!) and repierce my navel too. Too bad for me I can't afford to spend that much on travel and piercings when I have a family and bills to pay. I was curious if you ever had plans to come to Kansas?

Surface VCH Piercing (with photo)

I received this message from a reader:

Dear Elayne,

I'm a huge fan of your work and book! THe Piercing Bible has helped me decide to get a VCH because of all the benefits it described.

Sadly, I made a poor judgement call when I got it done yesterday. I did not go to my usual piercer, as it was quite expensive at his shop and I didn't want to wait to get it done. Instead, I opted for a shop where a friend of mine got his PA done and he assured me that they did a good job. He has had no problems with his PA.

After the procedure, I went to my boyfriend's house and went to the bathroom with a mirror to admire my new piercing. I was slightly horrified to find out that the bottom bead on the barbell does not rest under my hood, but slightly above it and the bead does not touch my clitoris at all. What should I do? I would really appreciate a reply, as I have no idea if I will recieve any stimulation with this piercing because of where the barbell is.

Thank you so much for your time,
A.

Hi A.,

Sorry to hear about your botched piercing. It is unfortunately VERY common.

If you're not happy with the placement, the jewelry should be removed as soon as possible to let it heal up so the area is minimally affected if you decide to get the piercing done properly. If the jewelry is not touching your clitoris (the way a properly placed VCH does) then you cannot expect to receive any additional stimulation from it.

You may wish to discuss this with the piercer and see if you could get your money back. Make sure to take a photo of the misplaced piercing if you plan to take it out before you approach the studio.

Good luck,

Healing Great and Loving Emu Oil

I just got a fantastic email from one of the clients I pierced recently when I was on the road:

Hi Elayne!

Just wanted to thank you again so much for piercing me in Philly two weeks ago, and let you know how I'm doing. The difference between how I felt after this piercing and last time I tried to have my triangle done were night and day, as of course I expected since you did this one =) After grabbing frozen yogurt I actually felt alright enough that we walked back to the hotel from the piercing shop without a problem! Both the triangle and the VCH are healing beautifully; I have been salt soaking them and using the emu oil as you recommended - it is fabulous by the way! During the first week a particularly active day would have the piercings starting to feel a little pinchy and irritated but the emu oil helped that like a charm and let me stay active without feeling a thing. The swelling has gone down and everything feels great, no redness or discharge, and the rhinestones look just gorgeous. Don't worry though, I'm not letting the easy healing convince me to go easy on my hygiene or lure me into trying to 'play' too early =P I know I was a nervous wreck on the piercing table but you were very comforting. Thanks again for being so patient and supportive, and for giving me these beautiful piercings!

Another Surface VCH Piercing

I received this email today:

HELP what do I do??!!!  I recently (last week) got my hood pierced, I thought she knew what she was doing but obviously not!  It was done very poorly, it is shallow and so crooked (not straight at all) your first diagram of an incorrectly place piercing shows exactly what mine looks like... but mine is more crooked.  WHAT do I do?  it looks horrible, i don't like it at all! Should I just take it out, if so should I wait for it to heal?  Should I get it redone?  Do I go back to the same place and complain?  I am so affraid of removal and repiercing cause i do not want to get an infection.
Please help...

BTW, your site is soo helpful and I will try to donate to your paypal as soon as my finances permit, well worth it!!!

I thought it would b best if I attached a picture... thanks in advance.  I have to pick up your book as I love body piercings and am interested in getting more.  If you feel these pictures would be helpful to others please feel free to post on your blog ANONYMOUSLY.

Surface VCH

My Response:

Shallow VCH Piercing (with photos)

I received a message from a woman who was concerned that her second VCH piercing was still not properly placed. Turns out, she was right.

I had been so excited about getting my VCH, I've read stories, looked at pictures, everything! There was a limited number of shops where I'm living at the moment, and going to a bigger city was out of the question! I called the only shop who has a piercer at the moment, talked to the guy, he has 14 years experience piercing, and he told me he has done 100's of hood piercings. And because of this I trusted him and was actually excited about going!

The only thing is, now that I'm home and really taking a good look at it, it looks like it was done wrong!Well I took your advice, thought long and hard about taking out my surface hood piercing, and did. I waited, and got it re-pierced. This time however, I had a bit of trouble with healing as it swollen for about a week straight and slightly red. Its absolutely fine now, and I love it.
