Question About a Bleeding VCH Piercing

I received this message through the contact page:

I got a VCH piercing 3 days ago by a very well known/good place. I was just wondering, mine is bruised pretty bad and semi swollen and it doesnt really hurt. My biggest concern is that it is bleeding alot. The hole where the jewelry comes out of has this blood looking tissue stuff (skin??) coming out of the hole. My piercing is bleeding alot but this stuff doesnt come off of my skin, its like tissue inside the hole where it is pierced. I have been cleaning it with sea salt solutions. Is this normal? I'm worried.  thank you, K.

Hi K.,

It is hard to evaluate you without seeing you (or at least a photo). Feel free to send a few clear, close-up images to elayneangel @ piercingbible.com and I'll be happy to take a look.

Any piercing can bleed, bruise, and/or swell during the initial phase, though most of the VCH piercings I do don't seem to suffer from that during the aftermath very often.

Yes, Yet ANOTHER Surface VCH Piercing

Another Surface VCHI got yet another email about a surface VCH piercing:

Hey Elayne,
I'm sure you hear this often but your site is great, very informative...I had never stopped to think twice about genital piercing beyond the usual 'eek, not there' but after learning on your site (don't even remember what took me there in the first place) that it didn't have to be the actual clit itself pierced I was all for it. Unfortunately, I was so excited I went to the nearest female (husbands requirement) body piercer and had it done. Seemed fine at first but soon noticed it was more shallow of a piercing than I believe is correct (pic attached) and I am pretty sure I have plenty more hood that could have went into, not to mention it doesn't rest against the clit and there seems to be way too much barbell exposed (I think it just a standard barbell and that's the usual for this piercing right?) Oh and I'm not positive but it seems as if it is migrating though my husband says he doesn't notice..

I had noticed you will be in TX soon and would love to go there so you could fix this...as well as do both nipples (hoping will increase their sensitivity, breastfed 2 babies and my daughter was a lil monster about it!!) and repierce my navel too. Too bad for me I can't afford to spend that much on travel and piercings when I have a family and bills to pay. I was curious if you ever had plans to come to Kansas?

Leave Jewelry In!

I received the following message through the contact page of this website:

Thank you for all of you're info and sharing because of your page. I found a piercer that was so amazing asked questions which she readily answered and got my VCH done and it is fabulous I love it. What I'd like to know is, its been almost a year since I've had mine and I'm going to my annual checkup and would like to remove it for probably 2 hours or so. How quickly does a VCH piercing close or get tighter to make it difficult placing the jewellery back in?

My reply:

Surface VCH Piercing (with photo)

I received this message from a reader:

Dear Elayne,

I'm a huge fan of your work and book! THe Piercing Bible has helped me decide to get a VCH because of all the benefits it described.

Sadly, I made a poor judgement call when I got it done yesterday. I did not go to my usual piercer, as it was quite expensive at his shop and I didn't want to wait to get it done. Instead, I opted for a shop where a friend of mine got his PA done and he assured me that they did a good job. He has had no problems with his PA.

After the procedure, I went to my boyfriend's house and went to the bathroom with a mirror to admire my new piercing. I was slightly horrified to find out that the bottom bead on the barbell does not rest under my hood, but slightly above it and the bead does not touch my clitoris at all. What should I do? I would really appreciate a reply, as I have no idea if I will recieve any stimulation with this piercing because of where the barbell is.

Thank you so much for your time,
A.

Hi A.,

Sorry to hear about your botched piercing. It is unfortunately VERY common.

If you're not happy with the placement, the jewelry should be removed as soon as possible to let it heal up so the area is minimally affected if you decide to get the piercing done properly. If the jewelry is not touching your clitoris (the way a properly placed VCH does) then you cannot expect to receive any additional stimulation from it.

You may wish to discuss this with the piercer and see if you could get your money back. Make sure to take a photo of the misplaced piercing if you plan to take it out before you approach the studio.

Good luck,

Mole Management

Below is an email exchange I had with a a woman who is interestedin genital piercing, but has a mole in the area:

Hi Elayne,

I went to other day to get waxed and was informed that I have a mole on the inside of my outer labia at the apex.  She also said it could be broken blood vessels (since I have not been using lubricant).  Personally, I think it looks like a mole.  But the lady says she has never seen that anything like that on anyone she has done.  She suggested I go to a dermatologist.  Is that unusual  with your experience?  Would it be something I should have removed?

Thank you--
D.

Hi D.,

If she thinks you should see a dermatologist, then you probably should. Since I haven't seen what she saw, I can't give you my own opinion. But I imagine (like myself) she's seen enough bodies to know when something doesn't look right. If you can get a good photo of that area, I'd be happy to take a look, too.

Fantastic Feedback

I just got this message from a gal I pierced when I was in New Orleans:

Hi Elayne,

How are you?  I'm happy to report that the vertical hood and triangle piercings i got over this summer in NO are healing very well !  Thank you so much you are awesome!  Will you be coming to NY / east coast any time soon ?!?  I'd like to get some more piercings but I won't let any one other than you pierce me!  I waited almost 2 years for the ones you did and it was well worth the wait !  Thanks again.  Hope all is well!

G.

My reply:

Hi G.,

I'm so thrilled to hear that you're happy with your piercings. You just missed me in Philadelphia in August. I was booked solid for 4 days, so I'll definitely be coming back again--probably in the Spring. I can't deal with the cold of the Eastern winter (or even the fall...).

If you would like to be notified when I make travel plans, please sign up for my newsletter in the box on the left lower portion of the page: http://piercingbible.com It is an "opt-in" list, so I can't add you myself. My next piercing visit will be in Dallas. Information is here: http://piercingbible.com/event/2010/11/elayne-angel-piercing-dallas-tx-n...

Looking forward to seeing you and piercing you again! Thanks for your loyalty.

Sincerely,
Elayne

Yes, Yet ANOTHER Shallow VCH Piercing

Here's a message I received from a woman who had gotten a VCH piercing and she had concerns about whether it was properly placed:

Hi there,

You seem to know exactly what you're talking about and I was wondering if you wouldn't mind answering a question for me. I got a VCH about a week ago, and there's still some stinging pain although no redness or anything to suggest infection... but what I'm wondering is if there's any chance of the piercing growing out? Like, not the ends of the barbell sliding through the hole, but the body actually growing the piercing out.

I'm nervous because I've never had a piercing down there and don't really know what I should look for. Obviously I should be able to tell if that's happening and the piece of the hood looks smaller to me than the first day or two, but I don't know if that's just swelling. Any answer or what I should watch for would be extremely helpful right now. Obviously I would contact the person that did the piercing but if it was done incorrectly I don't think I'd trust what she told me anyway. Thanks in advance. A.

A,
I'm afraid I'm limited in what I can tell you from a verbal description. But if you can send me a few clear, close up photos I can tell whether your piercing was placed properly, whether the jewelry is an appropriate size and fit, and if you appear to be healing normally or not.

If everything was done properly, and you were anatomically suited, then there is very little chance of rejection.

Feel free to send some pictures.

Piercer's Inspiration

I just finished reading your article in Pain Mag this month not ten minutes ago. :) and before you are bombarded with comments and questions, let me just tell you how much I value your opinion, your ethics, and your procedures for piercing. I'm sure you hear this often, but YOU are a big reason I became a piercer. Thank you so much for being such a big part of this industry and being so open with your advice.

And are you going to be in Arizona anytime soon? I want my triangle done, but I do not trust anyone else to do it... even my fellow local piercers. ^_^

My reply:

Thanks so much for the positive feedback; I'm thrilled to hear that you find my information helpful.

I would be delighted to pierce you but I'm not entirely certain what my upcoming travel plans will be. If you would like to be notified when I make travel plans, please sign up for my newsletter in the box on the left lower portion of the page: http://piercingbible.com It is an "opt-in" list, so I can't add you mysef.

Feel free to send me some clear, close-up photos so I can give you an online consult to determine if you're anatomically suited to a triangle. Information on this page of my website: http://piercingbible.com/female-genital-piercings#Photos
explains the images I'll need to see.

If you would like to watch me performing piercings, you can see videos of me piercing at
http://clips4sale.com/10557  They aren't "how-to" videos, per se, but you can see exactly how and where I place piercings, and how I do them.
