VCH Questions from the UK

I received this email from a woman in the UK who had questions about her VCH piercing and jewelry:

Hi Elayne

I have emailed you at this address rather than sending it from your webpage as
VCH with a short barbellI wasnt sure how to upload pictures.  If for any reason you want to put this, including the pictures on your website I have no objections.  I also understand if you are not able to or do not have time to answer the millions of questions I have just sent you.

I can't phone my piercer as he is out of the country for a couple of weeks, but I will be making the 300 mile drive to see him after that to change the bits I want him to.  I also thought he may not remember what my lady bits looked like if I emailed him, so wouldn't be able to answer my questions without seeing me, and I would be reluctant to email photos to him (it seems different sending them to you).

Happy Customer

I first received an email from this client in October of 2008. She was seeking a referral to a local piercer to get a horizontal clitoral hood piercing. But after speaking to me, she decided to wait until I visited California. I finally did her HCH piercing in the Spring of 20099, and now she wrote me again in April of 2010:

Hi Elayne,
Just wanted to tell you that it has been almost a year now since I came to Long Beach to have my piercing done by you and I'm loving it. It healed with no problems, I'm getting ready to experiment with new jewelry now.

My main reason for this e-mail is to tell you that I am thoroughly enjoying my piercing and I thank youso much, I feel very lucky to have had you for my piercer.
You're an angel.

Love ya,
A

My response:

Hi A.,

I'm so glad to hear that you had an uneventful healing period and that you're enjoying your piercing! I really appreciate you letting me know. It is much more common that people take the time to write a a letter when they have a complaint rather than a compliment, so thanks very much for taking the time to share your positive feedback. Enjoy!

HCH Piercing Questions

I received this question from a piercee who hadn't been well informed by her piercer:

I got the horizontal hood piercing. I have a bead ring, Brenda the lady who pierced me said she couldn't use the barbell like the one in my tongue. I love my new piercing but Brenda is on vacation and I got some questions. I work in recieving and I'm constantly moving my ring always moves to the side; is that normal?? My period is coming cuz I could feel the cramps, do I need more than sea salt water and antibacterial soap to clean it?? And how how long do you have wait to have sex. My piercer said a week but I don't think that sounds right. Well these are my questions I hope to hear from you soon.. Thanks Christina

Educating About Genital Piercings

I was recently contacted by an interesting woman. She's a gynecologist (among other things) and she requested my help to answer questions about body piercing for a book she's writing:

Dear Angel- I am an OB/GYN physician, artist, and author, and I am interested in getting touch with Angel to discuss clitoral piercing for a book I am writing. My book (working title: Coochie Confidential- Questions You'd Only Ask Your Gynecologist If She Was Your Best Friend) is a book of Q&A about all aspects of women's health. The book will be published by St. Martin's Press in Fall 2010.  Should you be interested in answering these questions, I would be happy to credit you, quote you, and reference The Piercing Bible. One question that was submitted relates to clitoral piercing.

Horizontal Clitoral Hood Piercing Question

I just got an email with this question:
Hi.  I found your site while looking for info. and thought I'd see if you could answer a question.  I just had a horizontal hood piercing fall out for the second time.  (second piercing)  Niether time have I been able to locate my hole and put the ring back in.  This time I had a horseshoe barbell and the balls were still on it when it fell out.  Is it possible that this piecing grew out?  Should I not go for a third attempt?  I miss it already!
Hi there, Have you had a piercer or even a partner examine the area to determine whether it appears the jewelry he piercing grew out? It can be hard to see for yourself. Under the circumstances, it probably did grow out. It is much less likely that the hole stretched large enough for the jewelry to slip through. Did you talk to the piercer about what had happened when you went in for the second piercing? If you can take some clear, close-up photos, I'd be happy to evaluate the area for you myself. Many women aren't built for a horizontal hood piercing. If your hood area is very vertical or recessed, it won't matter what you do--the piercing will grow out. How about a vertical piercing instead? If you're built for it, it is a fantastic piercing and they are much easier to deal with and to heal since the go with the shape of female anatomy--instead of against it as a horizontal piercing does. You can check for suitability using the q-tip test pictured on my site: http://ringsofdesire.com/q_tip.html Thanks for writing,
