Problem with Horizontal Clitoral Hood (HCH) Piercing

Below is an exchange with a woman who wanted input on her HCH piercing.

After I saw the image I commented:

Yeah, that looks mighty angry. Are you confident that the jewelry is high quality? Was the piercer able to insert and close the ring without using any tools?

What product are you using to clean? Are you following the instructions as explained here? http://piercingbible.com/piercing-care

What is your recipe for the salt water, and are you rinsing it well when you're done?

If yes to all of the above, then I think you should consider a visit to the doctor.

Successful Piercing Visit to Philadelphia!

I recently returned home following a wonderful trip to Philadelphia. I pierced for 6 days at Infinite Body Piercing. That was my longest piercing trip to date. But last time demand was so high, I was unable to set appointments for everyone who was interested, so I decided to work a few extra days.

Over those 6 days I did 118 piercings on 87 clients! They came from 12 different states (as far away as Arizona and Texas!) specifically to be pierced by me. I also had some clients come down from Ontario, Canada. What an honor that people trust me so much that they are willing to travel such distances to be pierced by me!

As usual, most of my clients came in for genital piercings. I did 55 vertical clitoral hood (VCH) piercings, and 24 triangle piercings, among others. I also did a few apadravyas, scrotum piercings, frenum piercings, and Prince Albert piercings for the guys. Additionally, I did a few nostril piercings, eyebrow piercings, and also a navel piercing, a tongue piercing, and a philtrum (upper lip center) piercing.

While I was there I got to enjoy some Thai and Indian food (two of my favorite cuisines that I can't get at home). An extra special treat was visiting an Ethiopian restaurant, as I love that food, and definitely cannot get any of that in Mexico where I live!

On my day off, I visited the Eastern State Penitentiary, which was really fascinating.

Septum Piercing Questions

I received a question about a tender septum piercing:

Hi Elayne,
I have had my septum pierced for three months. i am having issues with it. There is no discharge from it or crusties on the jewelry but it is very tender to the touch and very difficult when cleaning to start rotating the jewelry.

Thanks! T.

Hi T.,

Irritated Apadravya Piercing

I received this message today:

Irritated ApadravyaHello Elayne, I was recently cleaning my apadravya and noticed that I have what looks like a tear or some sort of injury on the head of my penis. My piercing is fairly new, I believe it is 4 months old. I don't know if this is simply because it's still fresh or if I have something more serious to deal with. I have been sexually active but I haven't done anything rough or overexerting. I have worn protection and I haven't had any pain during sex. I have included a picture of the wound. It doesn't hurt, but it is (VERY SLIGHTLY) more tender to the touch than the rest of my penis. If you could respond to this ASAP then I would greatly appreciate it. This has been worrying me a lot. Thank you very much.

Fantastic Review of The Piercing Bible

I just got this awesome review of The Piercing Bible on the guestbook page but had to share it here on my blog, too:

Elayne Angel has written a “must have” book for anyone interested in any type of piercing. The Piercing Bible is crammed with information to help you clearly understand all aspects of your piercing experience, including;piercing terms, safety, finding a qualified piercer, after-care and living with your piercing.

Elayne shares her vast knowledge from her lifetime of professional experience in a totally accessible way. It's a fun, fast, interesting read and I couldn't put it down. I thoroughly enjoyed reading her book and highly recommend that anyone with 1 or 100 piercings keep this book as a permanent reference guide.

Be sure to check out her videos too. It's great knowing what to expect before I ever walk into a piercing studio and I've discovered all kinds of fun piercings to consider in my personal body mod journey.

I knew my book would be very informative, but I wasn't as confident that anyone would actually enjoy reading it. So when I get this type of feedback and people say they enjoyed reading it and "couldn't put it down" that tickles my fancy and puts a smile on my face!

Successful Piercing Visit at Prix in West Hollywood, CA

I just got back from a fantastic two-week trip to Southern California. I hung out with my family and had the wonderful experience of meeting my brand new grand-neice while there. She's totally gorgeous! And we celebrated the birthdays of my dad and my sister. I had a blast!

My husband and I also debuted his new adult toy line (gorgeous and functional handmade glass art pieces) at an adult novelty show in Pasadena. If you're interested, you can see them here.

And, of course, I did three days of piercing at Prix in West Hollywood. My clients were fantastic and it was way too much fun to be considered "work." The staff there was terrific and I look forward to working with them again soon. Here's a few messages I have already received from clients I pierced there:

About the Prince Albert Piercing

I received an inquiry:

I want a Prince Albert piercing but having second thoughts about it. Please tell me the pros and cons of this piercing. K.

Oral Aftercare Products

I received this message from a piercer:

Hey Elayne! I know you hear this all the time but you are amazing! I love the piercing bible and your blog is such a great resource! I have an aftercare question for you, any information you can provide would be such a help. Im a piercer and I recommend Biotene to all my clients with oral piercings, Today I did a piercing on a client who is a representative for Listerine Zero, We spent quite a while discussing the both Biotene and Listerine Zero, She told me Listerine Zero contains four different essential oils and no alcohol but can kill germs, Biotene cannot. I compared the ingredients and they share the same common main indgredients(propylene glycol, sodium benzoate, poloxamer 407 etc etc) but they have many different indgredients. She gave me a case of Listerine Zero, really nice of her, anyways before I start recommending it to clients I'd like your thoughts? My concern is since we recommend clients rinse 4-5 times a day and listerine zero has the ability to kill germs could this to irritating to a fresh piercing? Would you recommend I dilute the Listerine Zero with water to make it milder? I trust your opinion and I hope to hear back from you! thanks for reading this Elayne! M.
