Triangle Piercing Placement and Jewelry

I received a message with some photos from a woman who was experiencing some concern about the placement of her triangle piercing.

I've only had the triangle piercing since Wednesday. I got my vertical hood piercing in 2005.  My issue is that my triangle appears to be crooked and is not lying flat and it is interfering with my previous piercing. My piercer removed my VCH before piercing my triangle. I don't get shooting pains down my leg but I do not find the piercing aesthetically pleasing. I hope the pics come out clear enough for you to see.

Please help me, and hopefully if you agree with me, then I can get pierced by you when you come to Dallas in March. I live only an hour and some change driving distance from Dallas.  I did thorough research on my piercer before I had the procedure and I don't think he nicked my clitoris bundle but there was a lot of drama with removing my VCH jewelry which could have thrown the piercing positioning off. Please help me.

Vertical Clitoral Hood (VCH) Piercing Placement Question

Thank you for your blog and insight. When I decided on a VCH piercing I researched your blog and found infinate piercings in Philly to be reputable and only about 2 hours away from me. I had her done at the end of October. They were excellent, professional, clean...wonderful experience.

I guess my question to you is now that I feel I've healed, when I look at correct vch piercings mine looks different. It seems to stick out more than others.

Now I do realize anotomy is different so I try not to let it bother me, however it appears correct from the view I sent, according to your dots I see you mark on others photos. The side view shows it doesn't seem flush with the skin like others are. (She likes to lean to one side...ha) Could it possibly be pierced wrong? Perhaps I need a larger gauge. I was pierced at 12 and just ordered a 10 to stretch so perhaps that may help? Thanks for your time.

Healing vs. Healed--The Healing Process (Triangle and Other Body Piercings)

I received an excellent question from a client about how she would know her triangle piercing is healed:

About the triangle I received from you 5 months ago - what particular indicator of healing should I look for so that I will know that the healing process is complete?  This piercing remained relatively moist so I never noticed any "crusties".  It was never painful (aside from the one or two times it got accidentally knocked during sex), and once the swelling and bleeding stopped a few days after the initial procedure, it has looked pretty much the same ever since.  Will this type of tissue produce sebum in the piercing?  How can I be sure the piercing is healed?

Thank you.

Piercer's Questions on PTFE, Ampallang and Apadravya Piercings & More

I recently had an exchange of correspondence with a piercer who asked some interesting questions:

I have been piercing for 10 years now in a shop where my husband is the awesome tattoo artist. I just want to be yet another one to thank you for all of your tireless dedication to this industry. I just had a quick question about surface piercings done with polytetrafluoroethylene. At first when these surface piercings became the thing to do around here, I would perform them with the traditional bars for hips, clavicals, Madisons-you name it. I stuck them all with bars. Now this new material seems so much better for healing and does not leave the same scars that the bars do. I just wanted to get your opinion on it. Which is better, the polytetrafluoroethylene or the traditional surface bars?

Labret (Lip) Piercing Problem--Excess Scar Tissue Formation

I got this message from a piercee who is having trouble with  a labret (lip) piercing:

I got my labret pierced on the 3rd of december, and in the last couple days the skin on the inside of my piercing has grown (like a white flap on the bottom of the disc about 1mm tall) that rests next to the disc. i don't know whether it would be growing over it, i have a 10mm long stem which i thought is long enough, but i would still like your opinion

I told her that if she thinks the tissue is growing over the jewelry, she should should see her piercer IMMEDIATELY for a jewelry change! I also explained that I couldn't really evaluate a piercing without seeing it--or at least a photo or two. I requested that she send some clear, close up images, and I received these (below). They do show that the post is long enough so she is not in danger of the jewelry becoming embedded (which is a risk when a piercing is healing if the jewelry is too short).

Duke Piercings on FTM Genitals and "Snips" For Piercers

Duke Piercings with straight barbellsI got a message from a fellow piercer who had asked me some questions about performing "Duke" piercings. This is the term I coined for Princess Diana piercings when they are performed on a Female-to-Male transsexual. Yes, they've been done on more than one. You can find more information about them here. There's also another photo and more description about the Princess Diana piercings here.

Hey Elayne! Thanks for the tips on the duke piercing. Here's how it turned out. I used 14g 9/16 sbb and the back side of a 10g needle as a receiving tube. Left one went no issues, right one I did 2x bc lost connection on insert. You can see where the initial incise was. I changed the positioning bc I thought it was too low, but now it seems too high. :/ either way, he was stoked and I was stoked to do them for him! Thanks again for your insight. Happy holidays to you an your family!

Yes, Yet ANOTHER Surface VCH Piercing

Argh! I'm SO frustrated. I loathe it when women contact me for advice and information, and I supply it to them, and they STILL end up with botched piercings. That's exactly what happened....

I received a message:

Q-tip Test for VCH Piercing, with swab tip marked

I've been doing research on VCH piercings and have tried the Q-tip test but i'm not certain if I'm doing it correctly.  The plan is to have it done as a Christmas present to myself but I want to be certain on whether or not I am built properly for this piercing.  Attached are the best photos I could capture while trying to do the test.  Thank you in advance for any information/suggestions that you may have.

Respectfully, W.
