Genital Piercing

VCH Piercing Concerns

I received a message from a woman who was concerned about her VCH Piercing:

Hi Elayne, VCH with short jewelry

While I was traveling, I recently went to a studio you recommended. The piercer you suggested wasn't at the shop when I went in, but it was the last day I was in in town, so I let one of his co-workers do it.

The piercer used a 14-gauge, 7/16-inch curved barbell.  I know it is probably fine, but I'm a little concerned about the placement.  The inferior ball is retreating far up the hood, and I have to tug for a bit at the tissue to see it.  I'm worried that the ball might become pulled into the wound if I leave it there for the 6 weeks needed to heal--it's a tight fit.  Did the piercer go too far up the hood, or use a barbell that's too short?  Or is it ok for now? A.

My reply:

Follow ALL Aftercare Instructions for Genital Piercings

I just got a message from a woman I pierced a few weeks ago. She was given written and verbal instructions warning her to avoid sharing bodily fluids during the entire healing period. This is a reminder to everyone to FOLLOW ALL OF THE AFTERCARE GUIDELINES FOR THE ENTIRE MINIMUM INITIAL HEALING TIME! For the piercing she got, a VCH, I suggested 4-6 weeks as the minimum initial healing time:

Hey Elayne,

On 2/17, I had a VCH piercing done by you in Philly.  The piercing was healing really well and I thought it was healed too soon.  I always kept it clean with Provon, but never over-cleaned.  The piercing never came into contact with dirty hands and I always used paper tissue to dry.  Though, two weeks after I got the piercing, I had unprotected ORAL sex and the piercing may have been slightly abused.  I also didn't clean it immediately.  Unfortunately, then after it became sore and it swelled.  I began doing warm salt water soaks & it helped subdue the swelling.  Though it hasn't gotten any better and now I'm worried because there is a yellowish discharge coming from the piercing site.  It's very uncomfortable, but I've been dealing with it because I know it's my fault!  AND I love the piercing.  I really don't want to take it out.  Please HELP! K.

Hi K.,

Well, I won't lecture you as I can see that it was a self-punishing experience. You probably need to visit your doctor; you may need antibiotic treatment or some other kind or medication, depending on your diagnosis.

How often are you able to do the saline soaks? You may want to try a few extra each day as that may help with drainage.

Please keep me posted.

Amazing VCH Piercing Results

I love to hear from people who are really enjoying their piercings. This wonderful message was posted in my Guestbook:

I got a VCH piercing from Elayne on her recent trip to Philly.  The staff at Infinite were wonderful, and Elayne was totally professional.  She explained each step of the process before doing it so there were no surprises and I was ready for it.  I had a brief moment of OOO as the piercing occurred, but afterward, walking 10 blocks back to the train, no discomfort.  I have had no problems with it, it has healed cleanly and quickly and with no discomfort since.  I firmly believe this is because of the care Elayne takes with doing the piercing and placing it correctly.

Not only does it look adorable, but I had to write and say how AMAZING it works!  I finally had the opportunity to bring my guy in for a test drive a few weeks after it was done so it was well on the way to complete healing.  I knew what I had read about how the piercing enhances the experience, which was why I wanted to try this one.  All I can say is that the placement was so perfect, the experience was beyond my expectations.

I have no idea if my guy enjoyed himself, but judging from the grin on his face as he watched me, I know he loved seeing how this piercing made everything infinitely better for me.

I already have two friends lined up to get the same thing when Elayne comes back to Philly.

Thank you Elayne!

When to Stretch a Triangle Piercing

I got a question from a woman I performed a triangle piercing on:

Hello Elayne,
It has almost been 5 weeks since I got my triangle piercing, and everything is healing up fine. I was wondering how much longer I needed to wait until I gauge it up to a 10?

Thanks again so much, so far I really love this piercing!
K.

OB/GYN Appointments Following Genital Piercing

I received this message from a woman I pierced:

Hi Elayne, first off I would like to say thank you again for my VCH piercing I love it! I got the piercing 2/18 and I am due to make an OBGYN appointment soon I was wondering if I have to wait until the 4-6 weeks is up or if it would be ok to make the appointment a little earlier than that? Thanks again, A.

My reply:

Hi A.,

Just so long as you're clear on the need to leave in your jewelry to preserve your piercing, and you feel confident that your practitioner follows appropriate hygienic precautions (hand washing followed by proper application of gloves), it should be fine to have your appointment any time.

Unfortunately, I frequently find that medical professionals are lax in their practices in ways that could put your healing piercing at risk. For example, I commonly see doctors and nurses who fail to wash their hands and then grab a glove from the box and/handle it by the exterior of the glove fingertips (thereby contaminating the glove). Just something to watch out for regarding your health and well being--regardless of whether you have a healing piercing!

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Sincerely,
Elayne

Successful Piercing Visits to Atlanta and Philadelphia

I'm back home after a long but successful trip. I attended a Board meeting for the Association of Professional Piercers, did piercings in Atlanta and Philadelphia, and shot a segment for The Learning Channel about erotic piercings.

In Atlanta I performed 53 piercings on 31 clients over 3 days. They came from Alabama, Florida, Illinois, South Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee, Georgia (of course), and Ontario, Canada to be pierced by me.

In Philadelphia, I performed 71 piercings on 50 clients over 4 days. They came to get pierced by me from Connecticut, Deleware, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Virginia, Washington DC, and of course, Pennsylvania, plus Ontario, Canada! Wow!!

As usual, I did primarily female genital piercings--LOTS of VCH piercings, and a good number of triangles, too. I There were quite a few women who got both, while we were at it. I also did a few inner labia piercings and a fourchette or two. I did some male genital piercings too, including an apadravya, some frenums, and a lorum. I did a number of nipple piercings, including one woman who had inverted nipples when she arrived, and very perky non-inverted nipples when she left. She was so delighted--I completely cured her inverted nipples!

I told a good friend of mine about my trip. She is a really great woman, a writer who is also an American living in the Yucatan. She wrote to me:

Atlanta Piercing Visit is Coming Right Up February 11-13, 2011

I'm super excited for this weekend. I'll be piercing in Atlanta for the first time in quite a few years. I've got lots of appointments lined up, mostly for female genital piercings including VCH and triangle piercings, but also for nipples, and some male genital piercings, including an apadravya, pubic piercing, frenum piercings, and dydoe piercings.

In going through my messages, I got more emails from women who have received botched genital piercings. One woman got a VCH that was so far off to the side, I suggested she consider a matching one on the other side of her hood, and she'd have a perfect set of Princess Diana piercings. I can't even imagine how a piercer accidentally gets a midline piercing so far off to one side? Was he piercing with his eyes shut? No wonder people are willing to travel from other states (and even other countries!) to get pierced by me!

Anyway, I just want to encourage everyone who wants to get pierced to do their homework and select a qualified piercer who has the necessary training and skill to accomplish the job safely, accurately, and quickly. So how can you be sure? By being an educated consumer! How do you get to be an educated consumer? One way is by reading The Piercing Bible. You'll learn everything you need to know to evaluate piercers, select quality jewelry, make good choices for placement on your body, and for aftercare during healing.

Thumbtack Posting: Genital Piercing Expert

I just posted about my upcoming piercing visit to Infinite Body Piercing in Philadelphia on a site called Thumbtack (and it was free).

Here it is:

Elayne Angel - Genital Piercing Expert.

This is what it says about the site:

What is Thumbtack?

Why can you go online right now and buy any product you want but you can't do the same for tutors, handymen, dog walkers, or other local services? Thumbtack is changing that.

Thumbtack isn't like typical local search directories that simply return business listings with ratings and reviews, leaving you no better off than the paper Yellow Pages.

Instead, Thumbtack gives you the ability to vet, contact and book service professionals the moment you find them.

Seems pretty cool!
